Double dipping was the key saying for the Connell and Falcon Kennels as they both took home wins in two of the six stakes races in the 1st round of the 2010 Jacksonville Juvenile.
The biggest effort honor belongs to the Connell Kennel as Kiowa Mc Gee showed off the form that saw him go up the ladder undefeated at the Orange Park Kennel Club. Breaking on top, this greyhound was NEVER in doubt and races off alone to easily win by 5.5 lengths is the quickest time on the card, 30.50 seconds in the 15th race. Their other winner, Playboy Joe, was not slouch either in the 12th race. Although he didn't get the lead from the box, he was in the lead by the first turn after a tremendous rush. From that point he cruised to the far turn on the easy lead and held on at the finish line for the victory.
The Falcon Kennel brought their A game too and post up a pair of wins with Scottish Dreamer in the 7th race and Gm's Giovanni in the 9th race.
Both greyhounds one in similar fashion, similar times, and similar styles. Both greyhounds have a determined effort on the front end in the stretch and neither one was going to be denied their respective races.
Gm's Giovanni was only slightly better as he was closer at the start and held off the pre-race favorite Really Xtreme throughout for the win in 30.68 seconds. Scottish Dreamer was further behind early and didn't take over till the far turn. He did win gamely at the wire and stopped the clock at 30.69 seconds.
The other winners belonged to the Lester Raines and Stacey Blanch Kennels.
Kennel win leader, Lester Raines, got on the board in the 11th race on the card has Hs Babe dominated throughout. She was really never threatened, as she coasted on the lead to win by 4 full lengths in a time of 30.71 seconds.
Stacey Blanch's win came in the 10 race as their closer, General Sherm, found a break and was too close, too early on for the competition. In the stretch he took down the early speeder and raced home for the victory.
Other greyhounds to take note of would be the Afleet Alex pups. Three greyhounds from two different litters all ran a close second in the 1st round of the stakes. Gs Tee Up and Gs Quasimoto both closed hard in their starts and make up ground in the stretch on the winners. Really Xtreme was a threat to the leader with each and every stride he took around the racetrack. Keep an eye out for them in round two.
Speaking of round two, all six races of greyhounds will return on Monday Evening November 29th at the Orange Park Kennel Club with a new opportunity to win some races and gain valuable points. The action is going to be intense, so plan on joining us as the 2010 edition of the Jacksonville Juvenile rolls on.
