No real big surprise as the best kennel at the racetrack showed why they have been in the lead for over 10 years at the Orange Park Kennel Club.
On friday evening DQ won 4 races and that included 3 of the 4 grade A races on the card.
Jeans Gypsy got things off to a good start in the 4th race with a strong closing win over 660, wow really? Yes. Gypsy broke slowly but rushed up well early and was withins triking distance i the far turn. Doing the DQ thing she drove home and stole away the win at the wire.
The next win came in the 10th race as the FAR overdue Pru Whistler finally got back to the winner's circle. She was the winner of the Night of Stars XXII race and used her late speed and post once again to get it done in this effort. Although she didn't make the finals of this stakes, she was never out of the money in qualifying. Getting up at the wire, Whistler finally wins.
Dirty Picture made it back to back wins with another late closing performance. Although it wasn't a 6th to 1st effort like in his last race, he did come from off the pace to get it done. This time around he broke much better and was way to close to early. By the far turn he had the lead and coming home he pulled away from the pack for the easy victory.
Last but not least the final race was won by a DQ sprinter too, but this one was surprise of the card. At nearly 20-1 Sassy Helen was not backed at all. I didn't pick here either, but she stalked all the way to the stretch and put on a late move that saw her take home the victory. Not only did she win, she posted up the fastest time on the entire card in the last race at30.56 seconds. We all know her sister Sassy Gloria, but maybe it is time to start paying attention to HELEN as well.
On a side note for the handicappers, EARLY SPEED WAS HOLDING WELL. In 12 of the 15 races the greyhound that broke on top finished in the quiniela and they won 9 of those starts.
