Afleet Red Ready Again

After a short rest, everything is transferred and done and now she is poised to see the live racetrack in her upcoming races.

This little girl might have missed almost two months but it seemed to do her no harm. Ok, so she finished 3rd in her schooling race on Monday evening, but you need to look at how she ran to get a good indication on how she is going to do.

As the box opened up, she totally missed her break and was outrushed to the first turn. There she was trailing behind the field and some puppies would have just thrown in the towel, but not Afleet Red. This little girl put her head down and just kept on coming. One by one she picked off the competition and down the stretch she was closing like a Mack truck. She gave everything she had and was nosed out for place at the finish line, 3 and a half lengths behind the winner.

RACE REPLAY

New owner Thomas Kennedy has to be thrilled with her effort and the prospect of her talking home some paychecks in upcoming weeks at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

Another thing that might peak his interest too is the possibilities of what is to come in the future. Two of her littermates, Really Xtreme and Really Gonnarock, are both already in grade A and Xtreme got there undefeated in just 4 starts. All three posses some good late speed and later or in their careers they might even be able to run further around the racetrack.

Things are looking great for the new sire, AFLEET ALEX, as he has thrown some fantastic looking greyhound in limited breedings for Lester Raines.

Speaking of Lester, everyone here at Greyhounds as Pets of Northeast Florida just wants to thank him once again for his generous donation of Afleet Red and the over $9000 that it brought in to the adoption program.

I also have a bit of news for those of you that might have missed out on the first drawing. I've heard that you might just get another chance at it this fall. Yep plans are in the works for another greyhound pup giveaway to benefit GAP of NE Florida. Thanks again Lester, Deb, and Mike for all you hard work and keep tuned into us, further details to come.
