Weekend Feature Races

Friday - 7/23/2010

The feature races for the weekend at the Orange Park Kennel Club are rip roaring and ready to go as we journey over 550 and 660 yards.
One race each from Friday, Saturday Matinee, Saturday Evening, and Sunday Matinee will give you a look inside some of the best and hottest greyhounds on the circuit.

First up on the agenda is the 15th and final race on the card for Friday evening over 660 yards.

1. Power Exchange (Craigie Whistler - Aunt Redmoon) absolutely loves the rail and always runs tough when inside the 3 box. Here he has his work cut out for him, but expect another strong trip around the oval.

2. La's Lucy (Get Over - Ruby Is The Best) gets a better post here on the rail and that should be the difference maker for her in this effort. When she is loose on the lead, no one is quicker. Clearly the one to beat.

3. Hallo My Pear (Hallo West Acre - Kiowa Chil Cavel) is all about the early speed over 660 yard and will need to find it again in this race if he wants to contend. If he does get out, he could throw a monkey wrench into the plans of the others.

4. Kiowa Deli Dee (Flying Stanley - Kiowa About Deli) will run hard as long as she is clear sailing on the lead in any race. She can wire a field on occasion, even a talented one like this. The break is critical to her success tonight.
5. On The Fly (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) is hotter than anyone in this race as she is riding high on back to back jacks. The post is the only hindrance here, if she clears again, it might just steal away a hat trick.
6. Kelsos Henchman (Kelsos Fusileer - Kelsos Picilino) won the NOS marathon and really needs to go that far more often. He is a super closer and will be picking up greyhounds in the stretch again tonight, but it might just be too late to get the win.
7. Miss Minerva (Swanson - Trixies Wish) has really come to play in her last couple of races and has closed like a Mack truck in each one. Even though she is up 2 grades, she might have a shot at the bottom end of the money late tonight.

8. Kiowa Vic (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) has returned to 660 yards and has factored well in almost all of his races. The break is important to him too as he likes to race near the lead. He could clear from this post, so watch out for him.

It's DQ battle time here at the Orange Park Kennel Club. La's Lucy and Power Exchange both drew very well in this effort and both will be cocked and ready to fire as Rusty heads by the starting box. Both greyhounds love it in here and both can win a race from the lead, or from just off the pace. The interesting thing to watch will be if they decide to break. There is good early speed to their outside, but even without the front, they should be tough as nails in the stretch. Look for Lucy to stalk early and take over late as she just holds off Power Exchange at the wire. Also closing up to take a challenge for the win should be Kelsos Henchman. This greyhound can come on with the best of them and if he is too close too soon in this effort, he might just run by everyone in the stretch for the win. he has all the tool and a good outside post, so don't count him out in this effort. On The Fly has to get some love in this race after winning back to back races in grade A. Her last win was over almost the same field that she is running against tonight, but the 5 box is not the 1 box. The post could play havoc with her plan at a three-peat in this race, but if she can break to the lead again, it might all be over early on. (2-1-6-5)

Saturday - 7/24/2010

The second feature races comes our way in the 11th on the card for Saturday Matinee.

1. Howdoyoulikethat (Lonesome Cry - Here's The Thing) looks best in red and gets to darn his favorite color to start this race. Two wins in 6 starts from the rail post, plus he gets room early on with the slow breaking 2, he could be tough to beat.

2. Yourgood Imgreat (Diamond's For Me - Let's Run To Win) is a strong closer that won't be around early on, but will be at the wire. Finally he gets inside and that alone could be the difference maker for him in this effort.

3. Bh's Simplylegit (Bh's Rackem Up - Simple Life) is tough as long as she come out of the starting box and is close to the early lead in the race. The post helps, let's see if she is up to the task tonight.

4. Palladio (Lonesome Cry - Ctw Miss Kelly) is the best early speed greyhound in this race and should be in front at the turn. At the wire is a whole different ballgame though. She is short late and will have a hard time holding on here, unless she gets some help behind her.

5. Kiowa Mc Gee (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Kiowa Wild Color) jumped up to grade A undefeated and after a rough go at the top level, he rebounded with a win last time out. He has some early and enough late to content, but the 5 box might be too much to overcome.

6. Kiowa Kay Sully (Solitary Runner - Sol Happy) might be a puppy but has skills beyond her years. She too runs best close to the early lead, so the break will be important to her in this race especially from the outside post position.

7. Fth Tiger Lilly (Take It Over - Fth Moon Dancer) is all rail all the time and will have to come out in a hurry to get there from the outside in this effort. Post is the toughest thing to deal with for her in this race. If she clears, she will contend.

8. Mohican Cider (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Ww Apple Cider) is a recent ship in that has shown some speed when she has room to run early on. She likes the extremes of the posts and should factor well from this 8 box. With some closing speed at her disposable, she could be a force late.

Post and speed are the keys to success in this race for Howdoyoulikethat. He won't be in the early lead in this race though as that position is reserved for Palladio. No one beats her to the front in this effort, but like most early speeders, she is short, short, short at the end of the race. No matter how many she steals early on, she is going to get run down before the finish line. That leaves winning this race to Howdoyoulikethat. This greyhound is a monster from the rail and has enough early speed to get close early and challenge all the way to the stretch. There he will outlast the tiring leader and steal away the victory as this early speed duo approaches the finish line. Trying to get to both of them late will be the slow breaking, strong closing, Yourgood Imgreat. Surprise this DQ greyhound can come on with the best of them and finally back inside of the 4 box, he is going to show up and show off just what he can do at the end of this effort. Making it interesting at the finish line, he will factor in the outcome of this race. Kiowa Kay Sully might have to overcome the post, but has enough closing power to be the best of the rest threat in this effort. She is still just a puppy and is learning how to deal with the big boys each and every day, and today is another one at the office. A solid break is needed if she wants to have a shot at a money position today. (1-4-2-6)

Saturday - 7/24/2010

The third feature race is located in the 7th on the card for Saturday Evening at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

1. Sunsand Fannymay (Lonesome Cry - Sunsands Sienna) might be up a couple grades here, but has been performing at a high level lately. She gets room early as the 2 breaks wide, if she can break fast, she might be a factor tonight.

2. Kiowa Vanessa (flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) is a little out of her element here on the inside part of the racetrack. She will have to work to get wide and might have a hard time doing it. She did win last time out from this post though, so you never know.

3. Trak Action (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) is on top of his game right now. Winning 3 of 6 and finishing in the trifecta in 5 of those efforts, he is really running well. From a great post here, he will be a force to be reckoned with.

4. Risingstar Sable (Dodgem By Design - Runforit Susie) is a good closer that has worked hard and climbed her way up into the grade A ranks. A bit over her head maybe in this effort, but from a good post, she might be up for another solid effort.

5. Kiowa Top Duke (Flying Penske - Kiowa Berma Top) has had a couple of rough trips in a row since returning to grade A and the 5 box is not going to make that any easier tonight. He does have some closing speed, but the breaking fast may solve all of his problems in this one.

6. Kiowa Auto Angie (Lonesome Cry - Kiowa Sue Auto) is a recent ship in that has looked good when she has gotten to the front first here at the Orange Park Kennel Club. She is still a wildcard in this effort, could possible upset once again tonight.

7. La's Gigi (Be Descrete - La's Felisha) is back in grade A and ready to take on the competition. She has a good break and a great rush to the turn and once out there, she can hang too. It's all up to her in this effort, if she shows up early, she will be around late.

8. Citation Cam (Flying Penske - Ctw Miss Kelly) is a cagey veteran that has found her break and is putting it too grade A fields again at Orange Park. From out here she will clear and with the lead, she might be the one to beat in this effort.

A little old with a little new is what this race is about. Citation Cam might have fallen off the radar screen for awhile, but guess what? She's back with a vengeance. She has found her break and that really has been what has sparked this new run of terror. Granted she can be short in the stretch, but she can hang on late and win too. Here she gets away from the crowd in the 8 box and should have room to rush to the turn untouched. It's all up to her, but if she keeps up the torrid drive to the lead, she has a good shot at back to back wins in this effort. Trying to run her down will be her kennelmate, Trak Action. This greyhound is really firing on all cylinders as of this moment and could win with or without the early lead in this race. Posted well near the rail, he has everything going for him. Either way you like them, this could be a strong Lester Raines quiniela play tonight. Sunsand Fannymay gets a look in this race strictly because of the post position. She not only likes the rail, she is going to get a ton of room early on as the 2 greyhound is as wide as they come from the starting box. There will be no excuse for her not to be close to the early leaders at the start of this race. If she does break well, she should be around in the money for the duration. La's Gigi and climbed her way back into the top grade and is showing that when she breaks, she can be as tough as anyone at the racetrack. Here she gets the bonus of being next door to the speedy Citation Cam and that will help her get room and give her someone to follow to the turn. Being in front might not be an option in this effort, but hanging close from box to wire might be strong possibility tonight. (8-3-1-7)

Sunday - 7/25/2010

Capping off the weekend we head to the 7th race on the card for Sunday Matinee.

1. Comedrinkwithme (Dauntless - Instant Vintage) might not be around at the start of this race, but in the stretch, WATCH OUT! He loves the rail and will make the most of this post. With 6 efforts in a row in the money, you know he will contend again today.

2. Playboy Joe (Joe Hearns - Too Late) has shown that he has some good early speed and can use it to get into the mix and stay there at the top level of competition. With his 7th race in a row inside the 4 box, he will make the post work for him in this one.

3. Rt Pepper (Big Monday - Noah's Pollywog) has put together back to back wins on the front end to make it into this grade A race. Without the lead she has been suspect in the past, so against this tough field, she is going to have to come out running.

4. Ww Kay Sea (Greys Flamebeau - Ww Kiowa Silver) is really taking well to the racetrack and has shown big time speed in the open here at the Orange Park Kennel Club. If this greyhound gets loose, the race might be for place.

5. Penrose Ralene (Dodgem By Design - Penrose Claire) was a surprise winner last time out, but we don't want to get caught with our pants down two times in a row. She has improved in every start at Orange Park and is taking well to the track. If she can break, you never know.

6. Fay's Mcqueen (Maryville Rumble* - Rooftop Kaylee) needs to leave the last race in the past. She was really roughed up and had nowhere to go. Normally a quick breaker, she is a monster on the lead. Winning 5 of her last 7 races, she's the one to knock off in this effort.

7. Pat C Bk Shiraz (Black Shiraz - Paradise) is coming back to grade A off a win in his last effort. Another outside post here should help him get out, but he needs to be close in order to be effective. If he can break, he could contend again.

8. Gm's Chicago (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) has been running well and has won 3 of his last 5 efforts at Orange Park. In all of those wins he was to the lead, or really close, early on in those races. Today he needs to flash from the box if he hopes to keep up the torrid pace.

Frankly here Fay's Mcqueen is the one to beat. Ok, so last time out he missed his break, ran into big time trouble, and finished out of the money. Trust me when I say, the lights will be back on in this effort. This greyhound is as fast as anyone at the racetrack, and once in the lead, no one is going to get to him before the finish line. It's time to get back breaking and winning! Comedrinkwithme finally gets back on the rail and that will just help him out even more in this effort. He has no early foot, but late, no one in this field is better than him. He has found the money in 6 races in a row and today the streak will continue on. Look for the red blur at the wire as he might have a chance to make it interesting late. Ww Kay Sea gets a notice after that tremendous schooling win after her first grade A won. Both were run in the exact same fast time and with extra room at the break, she might be able to surprise the field again in this effort. If she hopes for the upset, she needs to come out close early on here. Playboy Joe is in tough in this race, but the post is helping him out once again. He loves it inside and just keeps drawing these really good post positions. Like several other early speed greyhounds, Joe needs to break quickly and be close early on in this effort in order to factor at the finish line. If he can step up to the plate early on, he might have a chance to finish somewhere in the top 4 positions at the finish line. (6-1-4-2)
