3rd Round of the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes

Friday - 5/28/2010

The field might be cut in half, but as they get smaller the competition gets tougher in the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes.

For the third round races, 32 greyhounds will be competing for a spot in the next round and in the finals. There are really on two sitting pretty as we speak and that would be Fth Tiger Lilly and La's Jaguar. Both greyhounds are undefeated and if they continue to show up, they should have a very good shot at making the finals.

The rest well they will have to work for it, so without further delay, let's get into the quarter-finals of the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes.

The first stakes race on the card comes in the 7th race.

1. Dance With Me (Get Over - Sugarnooche) runs best when close to the early lead in any race. Here the post will help her do what she needs to do to contend. If she can step up, she might move on.

2. Backatcha (Joe Hearns - Nikki Di) is a strong closer that has been making up ground late in both of the rounds of the stakes. Clear to the rail in this effort, this wide runner will need to find room early on.

3. Mw Springer (Lewis And Wax - Mw's April Rain) is still just a baby but he is running far beyond his limited ability so far in the stakes. From another rail post here, he should keep it going on.

4. Black Licorice (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) is tough when he can get wide in any race and he wants to run. His last effort was a big one, he needs to find it again tonight if he wants to factor again.

5. Big Drama (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) drove hard in the last effort to take home the win, but the 5 box is not the 8 box. She will have to find a lane to rush in tonight, but if she gets clear she could factor.

6. Kelsos Henchman (Kelsos Fusileer - Kelsos Picilino) is back over 550 for the stakes and has been coming on strong late in both efforts. Winning might be tough here, but challenging late won't be.

7. Smokin Snoopy (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) has some good early speed and flashed it in both rounds of the stakes. From the outside he might be in trouble, but if he breaks, you never know.

8. Mr. Clark (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) gets the same post that saw him win in round 2. He is a double threat and should clear again tonight. All he has to do is be close in order to threaten.

Well he might not be in the lead at the start of this race, but Mr. Clark will be at the finish line. This greyhound can run hot and cold, but from the outside posts he is normally dangerous. From here he breaks better and gets room to rush the turn. Let's see if he decides to open up the faucet again in this effort. Mw Springer is the other DQ entry in this race and another all out threat to win. He has been a tough running machine as of late and with another inside post, you could see another strong effort. He is a bit more one dimensional though as he has to be on or near the early lead in order to win. Lookout if he gets loose early on. Smokin Snoopy might just be able to make the lead in this effort. He has been breaking well as of late and has shown in the past that he can hold on to the lead and take home the win on occasion. If he wants to have a shot here, he needs to break well, and hope for some help behind him. Dance With me gets the 1 box and that should go a long way to help her in this effort. She also is a greyhound that has to be close early in order to be effective. She can hang and even close sometimes at the end of her races. Tonight the critical part of her effort will be the break. If she is in the mix early on, she might just have a shot at success in this race. (8-3-7-1)

The second stakes event on the card comes our way in the 9th race.

1. Tipsy Marcus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) is a steady runner that needs to come out a bit better at the start of the race. He will have to make due from the 1 box and needs to step up the effort.

2. Teeshawn (Fuzzys Cannon - Well Chosen) has come back from the rest and it appears that his break has returned as well. From the same post that gave him a win in round 1, he could be tough again tonight.

3. Trouble Free (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) ran a huge effort in his last race and will to keep up the pressure tonight. From another advantageous post position, he might have an outside shot in this one.

4. La's Silver (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) is an all out early speed machine that could be in the early lead once again in this effort. Her drawback is that she is short in the stretch. So, the question is, if she does make the front, can she hold on to it.

5. Pure Performance (Dodgem By Design - Laveranues) likes to break as well and should be around the front end for the majority of this race. He has not seen a clear lead in a while, but he keeps trying. Tonight another strong effort.

6. Lorna's Cannon (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) has a short fuse and can explode at any time in the race as long as someone lights her fuse. She was tough in round one and a dud in round two. She needs to get the fire started again in this one.

7. Fth Tiger Lilly (Take It Over - Fth Moon Dancer) has stepped up her game in the stakes with back to back wins. She is outside here, but if she keeps breaking it won't matter. Can she do it again? We'll see.

8. Jamboree Frankie (My John Q - Slingshot Misty) has some good early speed in his own right and will need to flash it once again in this effort. He likes it outside, and that alone might be enough to push him from the box and into the money at the finish line.

I'm are not kidding here when I say that this race is going to be very interested from the get go. There is a ton of early speed greyhounds in this race and it might come down to who wants it more in this effort. So with that being said, I'll take the hot hand, or paw, with Fth Tiger Lilly. This little girl had been on fire from since the stakes started and is trying to repeat her Daddys undefeated run thru this stakes back in 2008. She is already 2/5ths of the way there and all she has to do is clear early to keep the streak alive. I think she can get it done as she can show off a bit late if needed and some of the others are just plain short at the finish line. Even without the front end, she has a shot to win this effort. Now for the true speeders that might be trying to wire everyone on the lead. Teeshawn gets the first look. The rest has done him well and the 2 box will do him well again tonight. He loves the rail and gets no speed to his inside. If he bombs to the lead, he might be the one to beat in this effort. La's Silver is a bit time early speed threat as well. Her drawback is that she is short at the end of the race and has been run down way too much before. To her credit she has won two of her last 3 starts on the lead, but both of those came from the 8 box. Here in the middle posts, she needs a ton early in order to have a chance to hold on late. Pure Performance gets a notice too. He might not have been breaking as well as he can in his last several efforts, but he has been getting close enough early on to compete. His biggest asset is his determination. He just doesn't give up in races. He keeps trying and trying no matter where he is. Look at his lines and you will see what I mean. Winning might be a stretch, but factoring in the cash isn't a difficult proposition tonight. (7-2-4-5)

Stakes race three comes in the 11th race on the card and is chalk full of talent.

1. Palladio (Lonesome Cry - Ctw Miss Kelly) is a super rushing early speed greyhound that has beaten everyone to the turn in the stakes so far. He is short, short, short in the stretch though. The 1 box helps, but holding on is going to be tough against this field.

2. Smokin Scamp (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) might not be in grade A, but has been running like it as of late. He has been breaking extremely well and contending throughout in each and every effort. Can he keep up the pace, now that is the question.

3. Paddy Whacker (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) would much rather be outside in this effort, but if he can get some room early, WATCH OUT! He is as fast as anyone at the racetrack in the open and can win with or without the lead in any race.

4. La's Jaguar (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) has won 3 races in a row and has done it from the lead and from off the pace. So far he is one of two undefeated in the stakes and will try to keep the ball rolling here. This is a tougher race and he will have his work cut out for him tonight.

5. Yib Moe (J's Habanero - Jj's Barn) has closed well in both of his stakes starts and that trend should continue in this race. His biggest hurdle in this race will be the post position. He likes the rail and the 5 box is not the 1 box.

6. Leading Steps (Lonesome Cry - Tk Ashira) is a big time early speed greyhound that can go to the turn with the best of them at the racetrack. Like most, he is short at the end of the race and will be once again tonight, but he still could factor in the money at the wire.

7. Playing Amy Song (Golddust Memory - Greys Irish Song) was the quickest of them all in round 1 and just missed back to back wins in round two. She is a strong closer that will be coming on late, that is if she can overcome the post position.

8. White FIeld (Dodgem By Design - Nominator) has some late speed and come on a bit at the end of her races. Here she is in with a very tough field and will have to run a huge race to get up into the money. The 8 box could be her friend if she can break at all tonight.

This race is probably the toughest of the 4 stakes races on the card. We have 3 round winners and 5 of the 8 have yet to finish out of the money in the stakes so far. So let's go with the best raw speed greyhound, Paddy Whacker. I know the post is not perfect, but he has been running extremely well as of late and is even learning to run without the lead in the race. He won't be in front early on, but at the wire he should prove to be unstoppable. La's Jaguar has to get some consideration too as he has won 3 races in a row, including both rounds of the stakes race. He too can win with or without the lead and probably will be the favorite to win this race. If he shakes loose early, this race might be over early on. Playing Amy Song has enough late speed to take down almost anyone on the lead in this effort, but she has to get close enough early to put that speed into effect. She gets outside here which is not that bad, but she needs to break better if she wants a chance to win this effort. Smokin Scamp gets a look as he might be the best early speed greyhound to have enough left late to finish in the money. He is not quite a short as the rest of the greyhounds that might be up front early on in this effort. If he can keep the hard running going on, he might have a shot to finish further up the ladder at the wire. (3-4-7-2)

Capping off the stakes qualifying rounds, the 12th race on the card will be another highly contested event.

1. Kelsos Scallywag (Dodgem By Design - Kelsos Smallfry) has speed to burn to the turn and has come off the rest firing on all cylinders. Once again in the 1 box, she will be in front, but will she get to the wire for the victory? Maybe, maybe not!

2. Pat C Stylish (Pat C Roadster - Pat C Yosemite) has as good rush to the turn and has been performing well against fields above her pay grade so far, but both of those efforts came from her beloved 8 box. In the 2 box tonight, things might be a bit different.

3. Raiders Bart (Dodgem By Design - Raiders Azeri) has been nothing but solid over the last month of racing. He has been breaking strong and holding close or winning his starts. So far in the stakes he is up to the task and will be contending again tonight.

4. Starla Vintage (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) is a superb closer that is running far beyond her experience at the racetrack. She can make up ground on anyone and looks to keep up the pressure in the stretch again tonight. Watch for her at the wire.

5. Mw Sekhnot (C Ya Costa Maya - Mw Steel Jaw) might have found trouble last time out, but performed well in his previous stakes effort. The 5 box will not be his friend in this effort and he will need to overcome it if he wants to be in the mix.

6. Tipsy Brutus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) came from nowhere to get up at the wire to win in the second round. He closed well in round 1 too, so everyone better watch out for him again at the wire tonight.

7. Hanks Reno (Maryville Rumble* - Dolly Madison) is a talented runner and can do it from the front or from behind and has enough determination to keep up the effort all the way to the finish line. So far in the stakes so far and post won't hurt this effort. If he gets loose, he could win this race.

8. Rg's Starfish (Jimbo Scotty - Tooth Fairy) has taken well to the racetrack since arriving from Tri-State and has not slowed down just because of the stake competition. She has been close in both rounds and this post might even help her out more tonight. Upset minded from the 8 box in this one.

No doubt here who is going to be in front at the start of this effort, Kelsos Scallywag. She is an early speed machine in a great post position and that alone is enough to make her the one to catch in this effort. The problem for her is that she is short in the stretch and will have a hard time keeping up the pace all the way to the finish line. If there is help behind, maybe but I doubt it. I like Hanks Reno to win. He should have enough to get close early on and enough late to get by the leader before the finish line for the win. He can clear from here, besides his last one for this post yielded an 11 length victory. Raiders Bart is the other one to watch as he has just been too darn good as of late to leave out of the conversation. He has not missed the trifecta in 5 races in a row and should continue the red hot running again in this race. If he can get clear early on, he might have a shot to take home the win too. Let's not forget about Rg's Starfish. Starfish has taken well to the racetrack and gets to start out in the post that saw him post up his last victory. He breaks well from the outside and even though it might not be enough to get him to the lead, it will be enough to get him into contention and the rest is up to the chasers tonight. (7-3-1-8)

The semi-finals of this event will take place on Monday May 31st at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

Best 660 Greyhound in Country

Right now for my money the best 660 yard greyhound in the country is our very one Eds Budby (Domingo Dodge - Cherokee Queen).

Not only has this greyhound been winning a ton of races, he has been leaving the field in his wake in each and every start.

Earlier this year he won 3 of the 4 qualifying rounds, finishing 2nd in the other, of the 2010 Orange Park Derby and took home the crown in the finals by an impressive 9 lengths at the finish line. What makes that race even more special is that he had to come from off the pace to win that effort.

He tried the sprint stakes out and didn't fair to well, but since moving back to 660 yards in late March, he has been almost unbeatable at the longer distance.

In his last 14 races in a row he has not missed the trifecta, but that is not all. Currently he has won 4 races in a row and 9 in his last 10 starts. Over that span his average margin of victory has been about 6 lengths and his average time as been an impressive 37.70 seconds.

Budby is firing on all cylinders not and has shown no signs of slowing down what so every.
Big congratulation head out to Owner and Trainer Mike Crowe for this fantastic greyhound and for keeping him sharp in each and every start.

Congrats should also go out to his underused sire, Domingo Dodge, who is showing that just like his brother Lonesome Cry, he can throw some pretty darn good greyhounds too.

So far on the year, Budby is off to a fantastic start with a record of 32 starts, 18 wins, 5 seconds, 3 thirds, and 1 fourth place finish.

Expect more wins in the future for this fantastic greyhound who might just be the best of the bunch right now in the entire country.

Two Remain Undefeated

5/24/2010 - Two Remain Undefeated

Thru two rounds of the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes two greyhounds have separated themselves from the rest of the crowd. La's Jaguar and Fth Tiger Lilly both have stepped up their games at the right time and each has not been defeated so far.

In the 9th race in round two La's Jaguar ran the better of this pair as he rushed to early control and coasted all the way around the track on the lead for the easy victory in an impressive 30.73 second run. Jaguar's victory was the first of three for the DQ Williams Kennel for the second round in a row. Also taking home wins were La's Silver and Mr. Clark.

La's Silver exploded from the starting box in the 3rd race on the card and never looked back. She might have been pressed throughout by Trouble Free, but try as he might, Free could not get to the leader before the finish line. Silver gamely won in 31.05 seconds.

The other DQ Williams winner was Mr. Clark in the 11th race on the card. Making amends for his last trip, Mr. Clark broke well from the outside and was way too close too early not to win this effort. He continued to drive throughout and proved unstoppable at the finish line. He won by a couple of lengths over pacesetter Leading Steps at the finish line in 30.83 seconds.

Fth Tiger Lilly lead the way for the winning duo from the B & J Kennels in the qualifying rounds. In the 5th race on the card, Lilly, broke close and outrushed everyone to the early lead. By the turn she was a just clear of the pack, but had stretch that to a couple of lengths by the car turn. She proved tough in the stretch again as she captured her second victory in a row in 31.04 seconds.

The quickest trip of the day belonged to the other B & J entry, Paddy Whacker. Another outside post and another great effort for this great greyhound. Breaking a bit back at the start, Paddy had plenty to do early on. He moved wide and got room to run and made a huge rush up the frontstretch. By the turn he was already in second and stalking the early leader Smokin Scamp. As the race wore on, the lead diminished and in the stretch, it was WHACKING time. Paddy Whacker drove by the leader at took home the victory by 2 lengths in 30.65 seconds.

Lester Raines also won a pair of races in the stakes rounds and each was a determined effort. Big Drama was up first in the 7th race on the card and she had to work throughout just to take home the victory. To her credit she rushed hard to the 1st turn and was in the thick of things in the early stages. Down the backside she was still 3 lengths out of the lead behind Raiders Bart, but she was not giving up. She made a huge move thru the far turn and took command as they entered the stretch. As the line got closer, she did encounter a threat as Playing Amy Song came flying up, but she turned back the challenge and held on late for the win in 31.00 seconds flat.

Lester's other winner was Kelsos Scallywag. This was an all out battle from the word go. Pat C Stylish broke on top and Scallywag was close in toe. By the backside she had taken a slim lead and extended that over the rest to the rivals to the far turn. Down the stretch she was still in command, but the lead was shrinking with every step she took toward the finish line. At the wire she survived on the late lead for the win by a nose over Rg's Starfish in 31.20 seconds.

The other winner on the card came from the Crowe kennel. Tipsy Brutus W came from nowhere in the 4th race to steal away the victory at the finish line. Palladio did what she was suppose to do, lead for the majority of this effort, and Mw Springer did what he was suppose to do, close fast in the stretch and get ready to take home the win, but no one counted on Tipsy Brutus W to do what he did. Brutus was in another gear at the wire and made the rest look like they were standing still. Coming from downtown, he crossed just better than the rest in 31.05 seconds.

The third round of the stakes runs on Friday Evening May 28th at the Orange Park Kennel Club. The field has been cut in half and the 4 remaining races will be the 7, 9, 11, and 12.

2nd Round 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes Tonight!

Monday - 5/24/2010

The second round of the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes is ready to go tonight, Monday May 24th at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

The first round had its share of upsets and form full races, but I know that everyone will be back on their game in this effort vying for more points and a chance to move on in the stakes.

Once again we have 8 full stakes races on the card as the best of the best in the puppy category lock up for another round.

First up we head to the 3rd race on the card.

1. Baby Butter Bean (Dodgem By Design - Chaka Khan) did factor too well in the 1st round, but the rail post here will help in an attempt to rebound. He must be closer early if he wants to contend.

2. Trouble Free (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) was in all kinds of trouble in the 1st round and finished out of the money. Here with a better post position, he will be looking to show just what he is made of.

3. Jamboree Frankie (My John Q - Slingshot Misty) ran tough in round one as he broke better and kept pace for the duration of the race. Tonight he needs to come out quick again if he wants a repeat.

4. Diamond Mia (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is far better than her lines show. She needs to get back breaking if she really wants to show what her mama gave her. The post is not her friend though in this effort.

5. Glo's Roosevelt (Super Lee - Blazing Blanch) is an early speed greyhound that can be short late in the stretch. Even though he didn't see the lead in round 1, he did manage to make the money. Tonight he wants to keep it going.

6. Wp's Hylander (Flying Hydrogen - Fuzzys Kennedy) dropped the ball in the 1st round. He had everything going for him and failed to take advantage. The good news is that he has another shot tonight. He needs to come out quick if he wants a chance to win.

7. Yip Moe (J's Habanero - Jj's Barn) ran a big race in round one and hopes a repeat performance tonight. He broke close and used his last speed to challenge for the win. Now, can he do it again from the outside?

8. La's Silver (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) is the only real breaker in this race and if she shakes loose early on, the race here could be for place. Granted she is short late and could get run down, but hast last start from here, was a career best.

When the box opens up only one greyhound will have a shot at the lead La's Silver. She is in a great post and she is really the only greyhound in this race with enough early speed to get the front end. She will clear around with enough of a lead to hold on at the wire for the slim, slim, win. Pressing her throughout will be Jamboree Frankie. Frankie is a one note greyhound that runs even and how he breaks is a bit part of how he finishes in the race. He needs to come out like he did last time if he wants a piece of this pie. Trying to run down both of them will be the brother and sister combo from the Lester Raines Kennel. Trouble Free and Diamond Mia both have what it takes to come home a winner in this effort, they just need to step up to the plate tonight. Trouble Free is a bit more of a closer, whereas, Diamond Mia needs to be a bit closer early on in order to be effective. Can this duo break out of the funk and get back to contending? We will see tonight! (8-3-2-4)

The second race in the stakes comes in the next race up, the 4th on the card.

1. Mw Springer (Lewis And Wax - Mw's April Rain) has back to back wins from this starting box and is seeing red once again tonight. Just a pup with 10 official races, this greyhound has chops, and this could be time for a three-peat.

2. Pat C Big Red (Flying Hydrogen - Pat C Cavort) has some late speed but needs to be closer early on and stay out of trouble to use it. In round one he found trouble and finished out of the money. Tonight from a better rail post, maybe a better result.

3. Easi Cella (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Easi Ellie) is an early speed greyhound that needs to start getting out of the starting box better. When she is close early she is tough, but without it she is a different greyhound. Posted well here, she could surprise them all.

4. Dance With Me (Get Over - Sugarnooche) has been running really tough as of late and put up another big performance in the 1st round of the stakes. She was game throughout and came up just short in the stretch. Tonight she needs to keep breaking to keep contending in this effort.

5. Tipsy Brutus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) is a strong closer that came on well at the end of his race in the 1st round. He just started that run too late. He needs to be closer early on tonight if he wants a chance to challenge for the win.

6. Gs Roman (Dodgem By Design - J's Wrinkle Free) is an even runner that has a bit of a close to him on occasion. He likes it outside and the 6 box should be a good enough place for him to start from. He needs room early on in order to be effective here.

7. Palladio (Lonesome Cry - Ctw Miss Kelly) is an all out early speed merchant that will clearly be in front once again in this effort. Like most early speeders though, she pays for it in the stretch and is usually short at the finish line. Can she hold on tonight?

8. Hanks Dancequeen (Maryville Rumble* - Dance of Dreams) lines might not look that great, but if the mood suits her she could easily win this race. Here away from the crowd in the 8 box, she will get room to run and that could be the difference maker in this one.

No doubt who will be in early control of this race. Palladio is the best early speed greyhound here and will be plenty in front of the rest of this field, but can she steal enough to hold on at the wire? I don't quite think so. Mw Springer is just too good from that one box. He has good closing speed and with back to back one box wins, he is going to be extra tough to keep out of the circle. I think it is going to be close at the wire, but Springer should prevail late. Dance With Me must be considered too as she has been running tough. Even though she was short last time out, she has come home and stole wins from shorter greyhounds in the stretch. If she gets close early on, she might have a chance to take home the win in this effort. Hanks Dancequeen might not look that good on paper, but when the light bulb comes on she is extra tough. Outside tonight she will get room to run early on and the opportunity to shake loose near the leaders. Longshot, sure, but you just never know. (1-7-4-8)

One more race away and one more stakes event. The 3rd on the card comes in the 5th race.

1. Smokin Snoopy (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) surprised many in the 1st round as he jumped out quickly and took command for the slim win. Tonight he gets another rail post and is hoping for a repeat performance.

2. Starla Vintage (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) ran a huge race in round one as she closed from way off the pace to challenge for the win at the wire. Tonight the motor will keep running, especially from this post where she has won back to back races.

3. Fth Tiger Lilly (Take It Over - Fth Moon Dancer) showed that she got a little something from dad in the 1st round. The ability to win a stakes round. Now on to the next from another great post. Once in front this little girl is tough to take down, but can she get there in back to back efforts?

4. Backatcha (Joe Hearns - Nikki Di) is an even runner that can come on a bit a the end of the race every once in a while. She did just that in the 1st round and managed to get to the money. From the same post position again tonight, she needs to be closer early on to contend.

5. Chaska Brenden (Lonesome Cry - Sendahl Katie) has a solid rush to the turn and once he is close early he can be a handful in his races. The middle post and the inside speed around him might make this a long night.

6. Captain Bry (Dodgem By Design - Sarava Class) is a bit out of class against this field, but with the late speed that he posses he is not out of any race. He held in the super throughout in the 1st round and hope that he can do it again tonight.

7. Jm's Sugarcookie (Dk's Prime Time - Little Liza Jane) is more a router than a 550 yard greyhound and that showed up in the 1st round of the stakes. She was left early and never recovered. Closing is her best attribute, but she must be able to still see the lure early. She needs to break better tonight.

8. Pure Performance (Dodgem By Design - Laveranues) is a big time early speed greyhound that needs to hit the lid in this race. She was a threat throughout in the 1st round, but needs a lead if she wants to hold off this talented group. The post helps her, and even without the front she factors at the wire.

This is going to be a highly contested race as several of these greyhound could pull of the win in this effort. So when it's tough go with the 3 basic things and throw in another if it applies. Grade, Early speed, Post, and HOTNESS! Taking this all into consideration, let's jump on the Fth Tiger Lilly Bandwagon. She is a solid grade A competitor, has enough early speed to contend for the lead, loves the rail post and gets it again here, and was a winner in the 1st round of the stakes. She posted up the biggest margin of victory and could do it again in this effort. All she has to do is break, and this race should be over. Trying to take her down will be the fast closing Starla Vintage. This greyhound is a DQ closing machine and will be doing what she does best in the stretch, eating up ground and lengths as she approaches the finish line. Did I mention that she too likes the post and has won her last two races in a row in fine fashion from this post position. If she gets loose early, no one beats her. Smokin Snoopy gets another look after that strong winning effort in the 1st round. Normally not on the radar per say, but with the one box and his recent success, he has be in the conversation tonight. Pure Performance used to be money to the lead in any races, but recently she has struggled to get the front. From the 8 box she will get the much needed room to rush early on and could see herself in command as they head to the turn. Her problem is that she is short late and even with the lead, I don't think she can hold it. To win she will need the lead and some help behind her. (3-2-1-8)

The rounds continue on in the 7th race on the card for Monday Evening.

1. Bh's Simplylegit (BH's Rackem Up - Simple Life) loves the rail and gets it here in the 1 box. She has great early speed and that will get her in the thick of things in this effort. If she can get the lead, can she hold it? That is the question.

2. Playing Amy Song (Golddust Memory - Greys Irish Song) was the quickest on the evening in the 1st round as she made the most of the great post. She wanted to run and took it box to wire. Here from another rail spot, she could put up back to back scores.

3. Cinnamon Heart (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) has great speed and can run with anyone when he can get out of the starting box, but we just don't know when that is going to happen. He needs to be more consistent. If he does hit the lid, the race might be for place.

4. Lockdown Lucy (Back Breaking - Ptl Lea) finally gets back inside and that might just help out in this effort. Getting out of the starting box would be a plus too. She hasn't broke like she can in a while. She needs a wakeup call, and tonight might be the night.

5. Pat C Elway (Elway Drive - Pat C Vein) draws a tough 5 box in this effort and if wants to get back on track tonight he has only one option, get out of the starting box in a hurry. This greyhounds runs his best near the early lead and it might be a big task from here against this field.

6. Raiders Bart (Dodgem By Design - Raiders Azeri) is a solid grade A racer that has been breaking and running well over the last month or so. He likes to break from the outside and things look pretty again for him in this effort. He will be a factor throughout again tonight.

7. Teeshawn (Fuzzys Cannon - Well Chosen) found the form in the first round that saw him jump up the grading ladder early in his career. Hot off a rest, his fresh legs got him out of the box and to the early lead. Tonight he needs to keep up the pressure with another good start.

8. Big Drama (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is a long way from the rail and that once again might hinder her effort in this race. She is far better than her current lines show and has enough late speed to overcome some trouble in this trip. She needs to step it up in this effort tonight.

It's going to be tough to take down Raiders Bart in this race, but from another great rail post position, Playing Amy Song should be up for the challenge. She runs really tough from these rail posts and has enough left in the tank to take someone off the late lead if needed at the end of this race. From the front or from behind she will be tough to keep from winning back to back races tonight. Raiders Bart will be doing his best to keep her from doing it though. He has been hotter than anyone else in this race and he has been doing it against the best at the racetrack. He has won 2 of 4 races and has been breaking very well. He too has a good starting spot and he should be Amy Song's best competition in this race. Bh's Simplylegit has some good early speed of her own lurking on the rail part of the racetrack and if she hits the lid, she might just be the one to catch in this effort. The bad news is that with the big dogs behind her, she will get caught even if she does see the daylight on the front end. With the post working for her and if she could get a little help behind, she too has a shot at the victory tonight. Cinnamon Heart has to be noticed here as well. You can't ignore back to back wins, including one by 11 1/2 lengths in 30.77 and an even faster 4 1/2 length win in 30.55 seconds. Wide is where this greyhound wants to be, but if he breaks it really won't matter. JUST IN CASE, you have to respect the talent on the lead. (2-6-1-3)

The 5th stakes event on the card comes our way in the 9th race.

1. La's Jaguar (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) has shown off his talents with back to back winning trips. Here the one box will be kind to him again. If he can get close early on, he has enough left late to run down them all for the 3-peat.

2. Yip Laurel (J's Habanero - Jj's Barn) is the only real early speed greyhound in this race and she has some added motivation here to make amends for her 1st round effort. She sat in the box for her and ran into early trouble. Time to lead for a long time and try to steal away a win.

3. Kelsos Kingsize (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Dea's Hazy Day) failed to rally in the 1st round, but I would bet that won't happen in back to back races. He is back over 550 for the first time in a while and needs time to get acclimated. If he gets around close, everyone might be in trouble here.

4. Hanks Reno (Maryville Rumble* - Dolly Madison) rushed up close and took command in her first round race for a determined win. The difference here is the post. This is not the 1 box and he will have to work a bit harder from the 4 box in this race. If he can get clear, he will challenge.

5. Ponyboy Pete (Dodgem By Design - Chaka Khan) might be overmatched a bit in this effort in with the grade A's and the post is not helping his cause. He has a bit uphill battle in this race and will need to get back breaking in order to have a shot at all in this effort.

6. Lady Gator (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) sooner or later the lights have to go one for this talented greyhound. She is so much better than what she has shown in her last couple of races. Closing is her best attribute and if she can just get a lane, she should challenge in the stretch.

7. White Field (Dodgem By Design - Nominator) has shown some good late speed in her last couple of races in a row and will need to keep up the good work in this race. She ran a career best 2 races ago from a similar post and if she can do it again, she might be a longshot winner.

8. Lrc Last Call (Late Late Show - Hot Cargo) has a little bit of late speed built right in to his races, but runs his best when he can be close to the leaders early on in his race. The break will be critical for him here as he hopes to take home more points and move on in the stakes.

I think it's time for a 3-peat. La's Jaguar has been running really tough and really likes this post position. Anyways you slice it, that's call a double bonus! Jaguar also gets the double threat tag as he can win on the early lead or come from off the pack and take home the victory in the stretch. He will do what needs to be done to win this effort. Hanks Reno ran a HUGE race in his last effort, but this is not the 1 box. If he wants to factor again in this effort he will need to come out way closer at the start of this race. There is not going to be all the room he had to rush in last time out. Lady Gator also gets a look simply because she has enough late speed to overcome anything that is thrown in front of her. She has gears in the stretch the others don't posses and tonight is the night she remembers how to shift them. Yip Laurel might be a bit up in grade here but if she breaks like she can, they all might be chasing her tail throughout in this effort. She is really the only true early speed greyhound in the bunch and could put 10 on them early on. Holding on would be quite a task tonight, but not out of the realm of possibilities either. Watch out if she wants to hit it early tonight.(1-4-6-2)

A bunch down and just a couple left. The 6th stakes event on the card comes in the 10th race.

1. Bizarre (Flare Gun - Scare De Cat) likes the rail and gets it again for the second race in a row. He needs to put up a better effort though than he ran in the 1st stakes start. He has shown some late speed in the past, let's see if he can get the ball rolling.

2. Gs Holly Ho (Rapido Rambo - Gm's Cutie) has had some rough trips in a row as of late and just needs to get some room early in order to show just what she can do around the racetrack. Here in a better rail post, she might get that room in this effort.

3. Par Zapster (Lonesome Cry - Rl Zipper) got into trouble in the 1st round race and needs to show up early and make a rebound in this effort if she wants to move on in the stakes. With no speed to her inside, if she breaks, she might be able to make a statement here.

4. Tipsy Marcus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) is a closer that one a race just a couple of starts ago. He can break on occasion too and once he has seen the lead, he is tough to take off of it. He needs to step up his game in this race.

5. Smokin Scamp (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) has been close as of late but just can't seem to get over the hump. He has be in the thick of things from the inside post, but will have to run from the 5 box in this effort. If he can overcome the post, he will contend.

6. La's Gigi (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) has shown some good early speed in the past couple of starts and if she could have stayed clear of the others in the 1st round she would have finished further up the ladder at the wire. Tonight the post works in her favor.

7. Paddy Whacker (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) loves it out here and clearly is the quickest greyhound in this field. He has everything going for him here and if he decides to use all of his abilities, this race could get UGLY for the rest of the field.

8. Kelsos Henchman (Kelsos Fusileer - Kelsos Picilino) moved back to 550 for the stakes and showed off that great closing ability in the 1st round. Here on the outside, he will get room to run, and if he is too close too soon, he might be the one to beat in this effort.

It's outside time in the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes. Starting off with the so posted up, Paddy Whacker. This greyhound is normally a monster from the 6, 7, and 8 boxes and the green and white stripes will do him well again in this effort. He put up a personal best 30.39 two starts back and looks to put up another in this race. All he has to do is get close early and the rest will take care of itself. Smoking Scamp broke well in his last couple of races and even though he is in a post he has not done well from, he has no speed to the inside of him tonight and that will make a difference. He should break with the leaders in this race and factor in the mix throughout once again. Kelsos Henchman is the late speed element in this effort. He might not be around early on, but trust me when I tell you, he will be around at the finish line. He has tremendous closing ability and will showing it off in the deep stretch tonight. The other name not to forget about is La's Gigi. This greyhound might be the best breaker in the bunch and if it all when her way, she might be the one crossing ahead of everyone else in this effort. She is short late though and that will most likely be her downfall once again tonight. To win she would need some big time help behind her. (7-5-8-6)

Down to the last two on the card and the first of the pair comes our way in the 11th race.

1. Leading Steps (Lonesome Cry - Tk Ashira) is a big time breaker that is very happy about the rail post position that he has drawn in this effort. He is going to have room early and that is all he needs to get to the early lead in this race. Now can he hold it?

2. Lrc Last Dance (Late Late Show - Hot Cargo) has had a couple of rough trips in a row and needs to just get around the turn for a chance to factor in this race. The rail post will go a long way to help out this effort. Let's see if he is up for the challenge.

3. Cjc's Bristol (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Greys Real Nifty) is an even runner that needs to be close early on in the race in order to be effective. Here from a good rail post, she has a chance to factor, she just needs to show up and show off.

4. Raiders Benito (Dodgem By Design - Raiders Azeri) had been on a tear before the 1st round of the stakes. In that race he forgot to break and that was his demise. Here he needs to find his form and get back to contending.

5. Cdn Jaw Breaker (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) is just like the rest of the litter. They are extra fast in the open and when they break they are as dangerous as anyone on the racetrack. But when is that, and can it happen from the 5 box? We will see.

6. Ahk Flame On (Trey United* - Greys Fire Hawk) is a grade D greyhound in with a bunch of grade A's. To say he is overmatched is an understatement, so his best hope is to come out very fast at the start of this race. That is his only chance to compete.

7. Mr. Duncan (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) was roughed up in the 1st round and gets another chance from a similar post in this race. He needs to do well for the family bragging rights as his brother is next door in the 8. If he does clear, watch out!

8. Mr. Clark (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) is happy to be away from the 5 box in this effort. He might be a rail runner, but he likes to rush at the break from the outside. He is no stranger to winning races and could easily take home this race, if he can get out of the starting box.

Well he might not be Leading at the start of this race, but Mr. Clark just has to be close enough to contend in order to get up before the finish line. He loves it outside at the break and should get oodles of room to rush the turn, especially with his similar running brother in tow beside him. Watch for him to put on the jets late and take down the early lead, Leading Steps in the stretch for the win. Steps gets all the bonuses at the start of this race. He has no speed around him and a rail post, what more could be want? Maybe a head start against these talented closers, but without it he will still be in front and the one to beat before the wire. If he can steal a ton, he might have a shot to hold on late for the win. Mr. Duncan is just like Mr. Clark and could put up a big effort if his brother fails to do so in this race. He has all the tools, likes the outside, and has enough left in the tank to take down the leader late too. If he clears with his brother on the outside, this could turn into a family feud. Cdn Jaw Breaker gets the just in case pick here. Just like his littermates, this chocolate runner is in the box and you never know just what you are going to get. If he wants to run, he could win it, or if he doesn't want to he might finish in the money, or not. I'll take a flyer on him, IN CASE he finds it in this effort. (8-1-7-5)

Capping off the stakes rounds for the evening, the 12th race on the card is the 8th and final event.

1. Kelsos Scallywag (Dodgem By Design - Kelsos Smallfry) took the rest well and came back with some fresh legs that saw her explode to the early lead in the 1st round of the stakes. She was caught, but it was a grand effort. Tonight from the 1 box, expect the same.

2. Bh's Doitmyway (Lonesome Cry - Yip Happy) is a solid grade A competitor that has some early speed of his own on tap. He gets a good rail post again here in this race and hopes to break better than he did in his last effort. If he can clear early on, he might have a chance to steal away a win.

3. Rg's Starfish (Jimbo Scotty - Tooth Fairy) has been tough in grade A since reaching the top grade after coming in from Tri-State. Her best feature is her early speed and I'm sure she will come out running once again in this effort. She likes the inside and gets it here with the 3 box, so pay attention to her here.

4. Risingstar Sable (Dodgem By Design - Runforit Susie) has looked really rough on the lead in the past, but has failed to break that well in awhile. Without the lead her effort is not quite the same. If she wants a chance tonight, she needs to come out running.

5. Lorna's Cannon (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) can come on with the best of them late in any race and that is what she did in the 1st round. She was a threat throughout to the fastest on the block. No Amy Song in this race, so the warning shots may be over.

6. Black Licorice (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) more candy and more unpredictability from B & J's talented litter. This greyhound is a bit shorter than the rest of his brothers and sisters, and needs to be out front early on in order to win. He must break in order to factor here.

7. Mw Sekhnot (C Ya Costa Maya - Mw Steel Jaw) is still a baby, but he has already shown big time abilities. He just missed a win in the 1st round and should get even more room to run on the outside part of the racetrack. If he clears, he could easily walk off with the win tonight.

8. Pat C Stylish (Pat C Roadster - Pat C Yosemite) draws another fantastic post position and that alone might be enough to get her into contention once again. She is a different greyhound from out here, and hopes to keep the ball rolling from her 2nd place finish in the 1st round from this same box.

Ok now for the no brainer move in this effort. Kelsos Scallywag is going to be in the early lead in this effort. In the 1st round this greyhound looked like she was shot out of a cannon at the break and it took a huge effort to get to her before the finish line by a DQ Williams closer. Tonight Scallywag looks to get more of the same from MW Sekhnot. This greyhound might be young, but he can really run and he is going to prove that he belongs to be here in this effort. He is going to clear close and prove best late for the slim win. If not what about another DW closer like, Lorna's Cannon. This greyhound to has great closing ability and if the mood suits her, she could easily be the one that is taking down the leader before the finish line. Rg's Starfish might not have the closing ability of the previous greyhounds, or the early burst like Scallywag, but she has the consistency to be close early and stay there for the duration of this event. If she could get some help, she might have a shot at an upset in this race. (7-1-5-3)

Surprise, Surprise, DQ Best in 1st Round

Race Results for Round 1 of the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes at the Orange Park Kennel Club

5/21/2010 - Surprise, Surprise, DQ Best in 1st Round

Another puppy stakes is underway and the DQ Williams kennel is proving once again why they seem to be on top of the standing year in and year out at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

They continue to break in some talented pups, that move up the ladder and record wins for them over and over again.

So to no ones surprise, DQ won 3 of the 8 stakes events this past Friday evening I the 1st round of the 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes.

Leading the way was Playing Amy Song. Running in the last race on the card, this streaky greyhound make the most of the post and bombed to the early lead and never looked back. In the process she posted up the fastest time in the stakes rounds at 30.67 seconds.

The other two wins came from the baby of the bunch, MW Springer. This greyhound only had 9 official races, but was up to the task as he came from off the pace and took home the victory at the finish line.

La’s Jaguar shadowed Springer’s effort by chasing the pace throughout and proving just too much for the early leader in the stretch as he took home the victory.

B & J and Blanch were hot too. Both kennels took home a pair of victories during the qualifying rounds, but none might have been as sweet as Fth Tiger Lilly’s for the B & J Kennel.

This greyhound is the first litter by OPKC monster Take It Over and it seems that some of the genes have passed down to the next generation. She exploded from the box and left the field in her wake. In the process she won by 5 ½ lengths, which was the biggest margin of any of the races in qualifying. Off to a good start so far, Tiger Lilly hopes to do what dear old dad did, win this race 2 years back.

The other winner for B & J was Hanks Reno. Loving the rail, this posted up red blanket wearing greyhound, stalked early, took over the lead, and then held on at the finish line for the win. A determined effort from a determined greyhound would be a good way to describe this one.

For Blanch the star of the show was Teeshawn. Teeshawn broke in very well but then went into a funk and has just recently returned to live racing action. It seemed that the rest did him well as his break has returned and that was the difference in this race. He beat the box and was in instant control of this effort. He was pressed throughout but never wavered on the lead. A box to wire winner, Teeshawn looked impressive in this effort.

The other winner for Blanch was Smokin Snoopy. Snoopy broke close to the early leaders in this race and by the backstretch he had taken control of his race. He continued to pour it on and padded his margin all the way to the finish line for the easy victory. If he keeps breaking like this, he is going to go a long way in the rounds.

The only other winner in the rounds came by the way of the Willis kennel. Raiders Bart might not have broken on top, but he outrushed everyone to the turn and stole enough early on to hold off a late charge in the stretch for the slim victory.

A couple of other efforts that you might won’t to know about are Kelsos Scallywag from Lester Raines and Mw Sekhnot from DQ. Both of these greyhounds gave winning efforts but come up just on the short side of things.

Scallywag popped the box and was long, long, long gone and led all the way to the deep, deep stretch before surrendering to La’s Jaguar.

Mw Sekhnot did the opposite. He closed throughout on the leader and just missed the victory at the finish line. All in All, a great effort from a greyhound with just 8 official starts under his belt.

Second round action takes place on Monday May 24th at the Orange Park Kennel Club. All 8 races return and everyone will be vying for points and a chance to move on in the stakes. The fun starts off in the 3rd race and runs in races 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

First Round 2010 JGR Puppy Stakes

Friday - 5/21/2010

It's puppy power time once again at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

Sixty-Four of the best puppies on the circuit are ready to compete for the coveted crown in the 2010 edition of the JGR Puppy Stakes, starting on Friday evening May 21st.

The first stakes race on the card comes in the 5th.

1. Mw Springer (Lewis And Wax - Mw's April Rain) might just have 9 official races under his belt but has shown grade A talent. Posted up on the rail tonight, he could win his 3rd in a row from this box.

2. Yip Moe (J's Habanero - Jj's Barn) needs to get back to breaking if he stands a chance in this race. He has fallen on rough times as of late, but has shown potential in the past. The post helps his effort here.

3.Hanks Dancequeen (Maryville Rumble* - Dance Of Dreams) has loads of experience and has won at the top grade before. She is best close to the early lead, so she needs to come out running in this one.

4. Backatcha (Joe Hearns - Nikki Di) is coming back off a rest and it seems so far that it has done her good. She is a closer by nature and should be making up ground throughout in this effort.

5. Risingstar Sable (Dodgem By Design - Runforit Susie) is living up to her name so far in her young career. She has run tough when she has gotten out of the starting box and will need to from this tough 5 box.

6. Lrc Last Call (Late Late Show - Hot Cargo) is hot off a grade B win in his last effort and hopes that he can keep the mojo going tonight. He has a bit of close to him, but runs better near the lead. He must break again here.

7. Chaska Brenden (Lonesome Cry - Sendahl Katie) might be a bit over his head in this race, but if can get loose, you never know. Working for him is the post, but he must be around early on to be effective.

8. Palladio (Lonesome Cry - Ctw Miss Kelly) is the only grade A greyhound in this race. She is all early speed all the time and will most likely be in front at the start of this race, but can she hold it, that is the question.

Here I like Mw Springer. DQ is always ready for a stakes and has had good success in the past with young puppies showing up well in the stakes, plus he has won 2 straight from this post. Time for a 3-peat. Hanks Dancequeen has the most experience in grade A in this field that has to count for something. She gets a good inside post too and with enough early to contend and enough staying power to hold, she will find a way to contend tonight. Lrc Last Call is hot off a win and has shown good closing speed in the past. No one else here has that going for them and that alone should get him a look at the money at the finish line. Palladio will be the early leader in this race, but she is just too short to hold on for the win. But if there is trouble behind her, she might be able to pull off the upset on the front end. (1-3-6-8)

Race 7 on the card is the second stakes race and a good old battle between early and closing speed.

1. Wp's Hylander (Flying Hydrogen - Fuzzys Kennedy) is better than his lines look and from the 1 box he might have a shot to surprise them all in this effort. He needs to break better if he wants to get it done.

2. Teeshawn (Fuzzys Cannon - Well Chosen) needs to find a way back to his former breaking self. He has not come out like he can in a long time, but finally back in a rail post position, things could change tonight.

3. Yip Laurel (J's Habanero - Jj's Barn) has enough early speed to make the front in this race if everything goes her way, but holding it will be the problem. She is a couple of grades up in competition and that could be the difference.

4. Trouble Free (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) needs to break out of the funk and get back to the form that saw him climb the ladder to grade A in a hurry. He has a solid rush and is not short late. He needs to wake up here.

5. Pure Performance (Dodgem By Design - Laveranues) is an ankle burner that will be on or near the lead throughout in this effort. Like most he too is short in the stretch, but he has held on in the past. If he steals enough, he might be tough to beat.

6. Mr. Duncan (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) likes to break from the outside and might just be the fastest greyhound in this race if he wants to run. He has been tough as of late and could leave this field behind if he gets loose.

7. Jamboree Frankie (My John Q - Slingshot Misty) has some good early speed and when he gets out of the starting box well he is handful for almost anyone on the circuit. He must be around early though if he wants to contend.

8. Baby Butter Bean (Dodgem By Design - Chaka Khan) is starting to climb out of the funk in her last couple of efforts. She is breaking better and the post helps her too in this effort. Look for her late in this race.

Early it is going to be really crowded in this race. We have several greyhounds here that can break and contend for the early lead, but late it might just be a different story. I like Pure Performance to lead for the majority of this effort. He will be pressed throughout by Yib Laurel and Jamboree Frankie, and if the mood suits the others they might even see the front for a brief stint. No matter how they play out on the lead, in the stretch I don't think that any of them will be able to hold off Mr. Duncan before the finish line. He has enough to get close early on and in the stretch he has something the others don't, LATE SPEED! Showing off at the wire, he edged out the rest for the slim win. (6-5-7-3)

The fun continues on in race 9 with the 3rd stake event on the card.

1. Par Zapster (Lonesome Cry - Rl Zipper) likes the inside post positions and gets one here with the one box. She runs tough near the early lead in any race and needs to come out close again tonight.

2. Smokin Scamp (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) has a lot of things going for him in this effort. He gets the rail, check, he is running hot, check, and he has not bit time early speed around him, CHECK! If he breaks he could be upset minded tonight.

3. Ponyboy Pete (Dodgem By Design - Chaka Khan) needs to wake up if he wants a chance to compete against this tough field. He has not looked good as of late and tonight could be an uphill battle that might be just too tough to climb.

4. Kelsos Scallywag (Dodgem By Design - Kelsos Smallfry) took time off to rest before the stakes and it seems to have done her well. Her biggest asset is her break and it seems that she has found it again. If she can steal enough early, she will tough to take down before the wire.

5. Captain Bry (Dodgem By Design - Sarava Class) is a steady closer that should be making up ground throughout once again in this effort. The 5 box is a tough place to start from, so he will need some help to contend here.

6. Ahk Flame On (Trey United* - Greys Fire Hawk) gets back outside and that might be the best part of thing for him in this effort. He is competing against a tougher field and will need to break his best if he stands any chance at all.

7. La's Jaguar (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) moved back to grade A after a big win in his last effort. He is clearly the fastest greyhound in this race, and if he gets loose, it will all be over but the crying tonight.

8. Cdn Jaw Breaker (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) might not be as successful as his littermates have been, but once outside he might just channel them in this effort. Winning 2 of 3, he is hot now and might keep it going tonight.

In a mixed grade race I tend to go with the class and in this race that is exactly what I will be doing. La's Jaguar is back in grade A and won his last effort. He can do it from the lead or from off the pace and tonight it will probably be the later as Kelsos Scallywag is going to be ready to fire. Scallywag still might be able to upset if she can steal enough early on and get some help behind her. She too is a class play as she just dropped from the top grade. Smokin Scamp is the other key play here. Even though he doesn't possess the class of the other two, he has the post and speed working for him tonight. Winning is a stretch at best, but contending throughout and factoring to the wire is not. Captain Bry is the lone closing in this field and should be making up ground all the way to the wire to challenge for a spot in the money in this effort. (7-2-4-5)

Up next in the stakes is the first half of the forced out Twin-Tri here in the 10th race on the card.

1. Bh's Dotimyway (Lonesome Cry - Yib Happy) loves the rail and runs his best when he can start from the inside post positions. Here the red blanket should be enough for him to contend for the victory.

2. Smokin Scamp (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) never gives up in any race and has been running really tough as of late against some tough competition. He has what it takes to win this race. Let's see if he is up for the challenge.

3. La's Silver (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) runs her best when she is clear early on in any race. Recently she has looked pretty tough with back to back winning efforts. (One official and one schooling) She needs to hit the lid again if she wants to win.

4. Kelsos Kingsize (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Dea's Hazy Day) took some time off and is moving back to 550 in this effort. Over the shorter course he is all about the LATE speed and even though he won't be around early on, in the stretch everyone better look out for him.

5. Starla Vintage (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) is another DQ baby that gets a chance at the big boys and girls in the stakes rounds. She is not over her head though, she has the fastest time of anyone in this field. She is still figuring it all out, but is she gets clear, she could win it tonight.

6. Pat C Big Red (Flying Hydrogen - Pat C Cavort) is a strong closer that can come from off the pace and challenge in the stretch in almost any race that he is entered into. The outside post works in his favor, but he will need to be closer tonight early on if he has a shot at the cash.

7. Raiders Benito (Dodgem By Design - Raiders Azeri) has started to break better again and in return he has been finishing better at the end of the his races too. He is a long way from the rail here in the 7 box and that might just be his biggest hurdle in this race.

8. Black Licorice (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) is a hot and cold running greyhound that can put up some big efforts when the mood suits him. Here from his favor post position, the faucet might be left wide open in this effort.

This race will be a battle of the best boxes to start the race. Bh's Doitmyway and Black Licorice both love the spots they are in to start this effort, but who is going to make the most of the post. Back to class as Doitmyway has won in grade A in the last 4 starts from this post position. That's enough for me to see a box to wire repeat tonight. Licorice should not be that far off either. He won his last from a similar post in a quicker time. This is going to be a thriller to watch. Late you have to respect the closing ability of Kelsos Kingsize and if he gets too close, he might have a shot at an upset as well. Smokin Snoopy is a solid chaser that that is just what I see him doing in this race, chasing. Following the leaders throughout and getting outclosed at the wire for the final spot in the super. (1-8-4-2)

The hits keep on coming in the 11th race on the card with another stakes qualifying rounds.

1. Hanks Reno (Maryville Rumble* - Dolly Madison) loves the rail and gets it here with the one box. He can run a bunch and this is the first inside box in a long time. If he gets loose, WATCH OUT!

2. White Field (Dodgem By Design - Nominator) is coming in this race hot off the best effort of her career so far. She does have some closing speed but needs to come out close again if she wants to be in the mix tonight.

3. Lady Gator (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is a good closer that just needs to get some room to run. She hasn't had any in a couple of starts, but her last win came from this post 4 races back. If she gets a lane, she will be tough at the wire.

4. Pat C Elway (Elway Drive - Pat C Vein) is a solid rusher that is game in any race that he can get close early on in. He has been short in the past and he has closed in the past, so for me it's all about desire. Does he want it here? We will see.

5. Mr. Clark (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) is one of the fastest greyhounds in this race and if he decides to fire he could be tough to beat. He can win with or without the lead and is the double threat that no one wants to deal with tonight.

6. Dance With Me (Get Over - Sugarnooche) is always moving forward and tonight will not deviate from that plan. She has good late speed and will use it to the best of her ability. The outside post will be a tough place for her to start from, and could hinder her effort.

7. Lockdown Lucy (Back Breaking - Ptl Lea) needs to get back to BREAKING if she wants a chance to steal away a win in this effort. She has not come out fast in a while, but maybe the outside post can help her clear. If she does decide to hit the lid, she will factor for the duration of this race.

8. Gs Roman (Dodgem By Design - J's Wrinkle Free) is a steady closer that might be competing a bit over his head in this effort. Working for him is the post. Three in the money efforts in a row from the 8 box, tonight might just be 4.

With no big early speed greyhound to get in his way early on, I like Mr. Clark in this race. I know, BIAS, but he has the talent to make the lead in this race if he wants to come out running. He gets the extra room at the break bonus too with the empty box next to him and the three greyhounds to his inside are all late breakers. All he has to do is be close early on and he stands a great chance to win this effort. Challenging for the lead and the win will be the posted up Hanks Reno. Reno loves the rail and finally returns there in this effort. He runs very similar to Mr. Clark and loose on the lead he might just steal away the win. Lady Gator won't be around early on, but should make an impression late in this effort. If she can get a lane to run thru the far turn in, she could make it interesting at the finish line. Dance With Me has been close in each of her last 3 efforts and has come on well in the stretch in each of them. Look for her to make up ground throughout and find a way into the money at the wire. (5-1-3-6)

More, More, More stakes action in the 12th race on the card and the 2nd half of the Twin-Tri.

1. Kelsos Henchman (Kelsos Fusileer - Kelsos Picilino) jumps right back to 550 yards for the stakes and will flash that big time late speed over the shorter distance. He ran 2 sprint races from this post, and won them both. More tonight?

2. Fth Tiger Lilly (Take It Over - Fth Moon Dancer) has had a couple of rough trips in a row, but with a better rail post position, she should get back into form in this effort. No speed to her inside, she might just be unabated to the lead and the finish line tonight.

3. La's Gigi (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) has really started to round back into breaking form at the right time. She is tough when she is close or on the early lead in any race and from a great post tonight, she might just have what it takes to win this race.

4. Glo's Roosevelt (Super Lee - Blazing Blanch) woke up in his last effort and showed that he still has what it takes to compete at the Orange Park Kennel Club. If he wants to factor in this effort, he must get room and make the most of it early on.

5. Lrc Last Dance (Late Late Show - Hot Cargo) might have a hard time getting to the rail from the 5 box in this race, but if she breaks, it might be easy. She too is an early speed greyhound that needs to find her break again in this effort. It will be her only chance to compete.

6. Tipsy Marcus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) put up a nice strong win in his last effort and showed off some of that late speed in the process. He can come from off the pace to challenge and the outside post might help him do it. Finding it at the right time, watch out if he is close early.

7. Cjc's Bristol (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Greys Real Nifty) is a solid chaser that gets to start from a good post position in this effort. She likes it outside and runs best from these post positions. Winning might be a stretch for her against this field, but she does have enough to compete in the super.

8. Pat C Stylish (Pat C Roadster - Pat C Yosemite) is still just a baby and gets to take on some greyhound that she might not be ready for just yet. Oh well, she will give her best and the outside post might just help in her effort tonight. She must break well in order to stand a chance.

The class and post edge here go to Fth Tiger Lilly and that should be enough to get her home a winner. Finally she is back on the rail and with that her breaks should return. Once in front she is tough to take down just like dear old dad. You see he won this race in 2008 and might have just past on enough to get her a win in this effort. The other double factor to consider here is Kelsos Henchman. He might be just moving back to 550, but he has run it before and won both efforts where he started from the 1 box. Tonight the 1 box is calling again and I know he will be flying up in the stretch to challenge for the win. La's Gigi might get overlooked easily against this duo, but you better not do it. She has enough early speed to steal away the lead and take it all the way to the bank. She has found it at the right time and could wire everyone on the lead tonight. Lrc Last Dance is a former top grade runner that will be doing what she does best, chasing the pace to the finish line. Don't expect big things from her in this effort, but enough for another in the money finish at the wire.

Just two more stakes races left, and the second to the last comes in the 14th race on the card.

1. Cinnamon Heart (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) has seen the light bulb come on in the last couple of efforts. He has dominated, and posted up the best effort of his career in his last start. Red hot now, he must be considered a big time threat to 3-peat here.

2. Bizarre (Flare Gun - Scare De Cat) has just a couple of starts under her belt, but has shown great closing speed in almost all of those efforts. Back to 550 for the stakes rounds, look for her to flash the speed in the stretch.

3. Mw Sekhnot (C Ya Costa Maya - Mw Steel Jaw) is yet another pup from DQ that has just a few starts in his career and is in against the big boys and girls. He has the speed to compete though as he won his grade D start in 30.64 seconds. If he gets loose, watch out!

4. Jm's Sugarcookie (Dk's Prime Time - Little Liza Jane) is another converted router that will be taking on the 550 yard course again for the stakes rounds. Over this distance she is a strong closer and will be picking them up and putting them down in a hurry in the stretch. Check her out at the wire!

5. Rg's Starfish (Jimbo Scotty - Tooth Fairy) has taken to the racetrack very well since arriving from Tri-State. She has been breaking fast and taking home a ton of in the money finishes, along with a win or two in the process. If she can steal a lead, she could beat everyone in this effort.

6. Bh's Simplylegit (Bh's Rackem Up - Simple Life) took the racetrack by storm as a pup and flew up the grading ladder to grade A in no time at all. Since she has been hit and miss and has proved to be too short in the stretch on occasion. She needs to come out running in this race in order to contend.

7. Raiders Bart (Dodgem By Design - Raiders Azeri) is a solid grade A competitor that needs to be noticed. Ok so he is not a big time name, but he has big time talent. With 5 in the money efforts in 6 starts at the top level, he will factor in the money in this effort.

8. Big Drama (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is a strong closer that is a long way from the rail in this effort here in the 8 box. She has more than enough to upset in this race, that is IF SHE COULD GET OUT OF THE STARTING BOX! I don't know where she will be early, but late she will be around the leaders at the finish.

Enough though he is moving up in grade in this effort it is tough to pick against a red hot greyhound that has put up tremendous back to back efforts. Cinnamon Heart's only downfall in this race might be the post position, but if he breaks like he has in his last 2 starts it will not matter at all. Once in front, race over. Raiders Bart is the other greyhound that might have an opportunity to steal away the lead and the win in this race. He has enough early to gain control and might just be able to last at the finish line for the win. Granted he has been caught from behind in the past and it might just happen again here. Either way he will factor throughout in this race. Big Drama is the strong closer that will be coming on at the end of this one. She is a long way from her best box on the rail, but will make the most of what she has to deal with. It is not out of the realm of possibilities that she could upset in this effort. Mw Sekhnot is still trying to figure things out, but if he gets loose he has the speed to run with the grade A's in this effort. One thing for sure is that he has the normal DQ closing ability and no matter what happens he will be closing strong throughout this race and find a way into the superfecta at the finish line.

Capping off the evening, the final stakes race comes on the 15th and final race on the card.

1. Playing Amy Song (Golddust Memory - Greys Irish Song) is a streaky runner that does her best when she is close to the leaders early on in the race. Here she draws a great post position and should be in the mix early and all the way to the wire. Closing is her best attribute.

2. Tipsy Brutus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) has really woke up over his last couple of races. He has started to close again and has looked really tough in the stretch. Running against a tougher class of greyhounds is his biggest hurdle in this race.

3. Leading Steps (Lonesome Cry - Tk Ashira) is a big time early speed greyhound that will be trying to steal 20 early on in this race in order to hold all the way to the wire for the win. She should like the post, let's see if she can get it done.

4. Easi Cella (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Easi Ellie) will be headed to the rail early on in this effort. She runs tough near the early lead in any race and needs to break well in this one. Forget the last race, she should wake up and run tough again here.

5. Diamond Mia (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) needs to get some room to run so that she can show off just what she can do. Tonight no break for her as she starts in the middle of racetrack, but she did just miss a win last time out from this post. Breaking in this race is a must!

6. Gs Holly Ho (Rapido Rambo - Gm's Cutie) is an early speed runner that needs to find it early on again in this effort. She has the tools to finish in the money, but she is almost always short in the stretch. If she wants a chance at cashing tonight, she needs a big effort.

7. Lorna's Cannon (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) needs to shoot out close in order to factor in this race. She can close on occasion, but has been caught with the lead in the past. It's all about if she wants to run. She can go with the best of them tonight if she wants to go, but does she?

8. Paddy Whacker (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) has to be the one to beat after her last race. She clocked a 30.39 second time and won her 3rd grade A in her last 6 races. From another good post it's game on!

Here it's tough to pick against Paddy Whacker. This greyhound is really running well and should be tough to beat in this effort. He can win with or without the early lead in any race and that will play out again in this effort. Because Leading Steps should be the one to catch. This greyhound has the best early speed of anyone in this field and should take instant command of this effort. Well that is at least until the stretch. There Paddy will feel like Whacking and Leading Steps will be the recipient of the blows. Playing Amy Song should be making up ground late too and Diamond Mia does what she needs to do, break, but in the stretch she too is no match for the big closers. (8-3-1-5)

Afleet Red Schools Tonight!

Well it's the moment that everyone has been waiting for, the Greyhounds as Pets of NE Florida's giveaway pup, AFLEET RED, will make her racing debut tonight in the 2nd schooling race at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

She drew a great 8 box away from the crowd and should be poised to show everyone just what she can do around the racetrack.

From what I have been told she is doing it all right in the morning, and this daughter or 2007 All-American Afleet Alex by Xtreme Hustler, should keep it all going in this effort tonight.

So tune in a little after 6 pm eastern time to get to see this little girl in action before you even purchase your raffle tickets.

If you miss the race, don't worry, the replay will be up soon after along with the charts.

The cost is just $10 for a chance to win 35% of her winnings, for the duration of her career, and the breeding rights once she has been retired.

Thanks again to Lester Raines for donating Red to Greyhounds as Pets and thanks to Deborah Strickland for helping out with the entire process.

Good Luck to our girl tonight and if you haven't gotten your tickets yet, after tonight's run, you better get it done.

General Sherm

He might be just a puppy, but so far he has been running like a veteran.

General Sherm (DEERFIELD SITE*-MYSTIC OPAL) is looking good for the Stacey Blanch Kennel.

Double Dip Distance Weekend

Friday - 5/7/2010

It's Double Dip Distance Weekend here at the Orange Park Kennel Club. The hottest two greyhounds on the grounds, are both running over the 660 yard distance and on different evenings.

That's DOUBLE the chance to get to see a six race win streak take place at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

The 2010 Orange Park Derby Winner, Eds Budby, and DQ Superstar, La's Lucy, both will be vying for a six-pack on the cards and we will have to see who earns bragging rights at the conclusion of the weekend.

Jumping right into the action on Friday evening in the 15th and final race with one of our streakers.

1. La's Lucy (Get Over - Ruby Is The Best) with 5 straight she is the one to beat in this race, and frankly, any race that she is entered into. From one of her best boxes, this will be a big hill to climb for this field.

2. Candy Girl (Flying Penske - Solitary Flyer) might just be the best early speed greyhound in this field. She can really come out running, but will she steal enough early for the upset? We will see.

3. Hallo My Pear (Hallo West Acre - Kiowa Chil Cavel) is asking for a change of venue! She has run against Lucy in 5 straight races and has finished 2nd in three of those. Winning is a task, but factoring is not.

4. Se's We Goin Too (P's Skidway - We Goin Sizzler) is a solid chaser that would much rather be on the rail. She has been Budbyed recently and now is her chance to see Lucy again. She must break fast to contend.

5. Kiowa Trent Tam (Trent Lee - Kay V Barbierie) is back over 660 and in a tough spot in this race. She loves the rail and draws the 5 box. She is not short though and should come on throughout this race.

6. Xtra Style (Kl's Doug - Exceptional Bid) is the veteran of the bunch. She has been in several stakes finals and knows how to win races. She is the best closer and will be threatening at the wire tonight.

7. Gabe Candice (Flying Penske - Home Town Charm) is a solid grade A competitor that has some late speed to burn in the stretch. She would rather be on the rail, but will make due here. Watch for her late.

8. Kiowa Unnat (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Quik Superhero) has had a couple of rough trips as of late and needs to get back to breaking if he wants to factor. The post could aide him in his quest for the win in this race.

No doubt who the favorite to win this race will be. La's Lucy has won 5 races in a row and is in the one box! DUH! But can she get it done again! YES, yes, she can! So look for her to stalk the big time early speeders on the rail early and as the race progresses, she takes over the race and draws off late for the easy victory. The O'Donnell Kennel has the upfront battle under control in this race. Candy Girl and Hallo My Pear with both come out running at the start of this race and each will have a shot to take control of this race in the early stages. This duo will be game to each other for the duration, the only problem is that Lucy will just be too much for both of them at some point in this effort. Xtra Style must not be forgotten about in this race either. She has tremendous speed of her won and when she wants to break, she can beat almost anyone at the racetrack. She has unbelievable late speed and can come from way, way, way, off the pace and still contend with the leaders for the win at the finish line. Although she might not be stalking the pace early, in the stretch she will find a way to factor at the finish line. (1-2-3-6)

Saturday - 5/8/2010

Up next is the 11th race on the card for Saturday Matinee at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

1. Uss West Coast (Lonesome Cry - Uss Mysterious) has everything going for him. He loves the rail, is drawn in the matinee, and his break should be enough to get the lead. But, can he hold it to the wire?

2. Rooftop Queen B (Super Lee - Rooftop Gumdrop) is a solid grade A greyhound that has to be close early on in order to compete. Here from a great post position, she might just show up and surprise.

3. Wp's Commodore (Fuzzys Cannon - M's Countess Amy) has enough early speed to get close and enough staying power to hold on to win. With 2 in his last 4 starts, he is a force to be scared of here.

4. Gs Olivia (Deerfield Site* - Steffie's Charm) is a strong closer that gets a grade A starts after a big win last time out. She has all the tools, but can she put them together against the best in back to back trips?

5. Sunsand Sallymae (Lonesome Cry - Sunsands Sienna) might be a bit over her head in this effort, but she has upset them in the past. She is all about her early speed and a big break will be needed tonight.

6. Kiowa Vinita (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) has some good closing speed and was probably going to win her last race if Lady Avery was not in it. Here no closer like that, and if she breaks again, this race might be over early on.

7. What A Charmer (San Tan Riffraff - Majestic Angle) saves his best run for the stretch and that is where he makes his move. Winning is tough at times, but with 5 trifectas in a row, he smells the money, and will again in this effort.

8. Yourgood Imgreat (Diamond's For Me - Let's Run To Win) has had a rough time of it as of late. He has not been breaking well and that has been his downfall. If he does decide to come out running tonight, this field is in trouble.

Up front should be interesting in this race. Uss West Coast should make the lead in this race but behind him is going to be the chasers. It will really be interesting to see if he can hold on throughout for the win or not in this effort. He has all the tools, but I think that Wp's Commodore is running just too well right now. He has been breaking with the best of them, and without a little nudge in the stretch, he would have back to back wins and 3 in his last 4 efforts. All he has to do is be close early and he should have a good chance to win again tonight. Kiowa Vinita is another one to watch out for in this effort. She just missed in her last race and against anyone else, she would be sitting in the circle easily. Lady Avery just outclosed her in the stretch. No issues here as she might just be one of the stronger closers in this field. She gets outside again and that should help her get to the turn and around it cleanly in this race. If she decides to come out quick on again tonight, it could be lights out for this field late. What A Charmer is also a closer and although he might not win a ton of races, he certainly is in the mix in almost all of the ones that he races in. He never gives up and just keeps coming all the way to the finish line. With 5 trifecta finished in a row, he is a threat, and will prove to be once again tonight. (3-6-1-7)

Saturday - 5/8/2010

Back to 660 yards, the 15th race, and a five race win streak, in our feature race for Saturday evening.

1. Eds Budby (Domingo Dodge - Cherokee Queen) was the 2010 Orange Park Derby winner and currently has a 5 race win streak on the line. He is clearly the one to beat here, and if he keeps breaking, it might be a mighty long time before they get to him before the wire again.

2. On The Fly (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) has run well since returning to 660 yards. She likes the rail and gets it in this effort. If she comes out close, she will factor throughout this race.

3. Fanatic Jaycee (Green Shoes - Fanatic Essence) moved back to grade A with a strong win in her last effort. Closing speed is her best attribute, but that is if she is not too far behind early on. Posted well here, let's see if she shows up.

4. Lady Avery (Trent Lee - Leafs Falling) she didn't fair that well in her first attempt at 660, but has gotten a lot better overall since then. With the experience, she might just come out running and give everyone something to think about tonight.

5. Kelsos Henchman (Kelsos Fusileer - Kelsos Picilino) has taken to the racetrack and the 660 yard course. He has moved up from grade C and has close well in each effort. Look for another late run in this race.

6. Hallo Wonder Boy (Dodgem By Design - Mohican Milla) is tough when he is close early on in any race and with 4 quinielas in his last 5 starts, he must be a threat again. The post might be the only thing in his way in this effort.

7. Gs Ashlynn (Rapido Rambo - Gm's Cutie) found her break and moved back to grade A in his last effort with a box to wire win. Tonight a great outside post and another chance to show off her skills. The crowd is tougher, but the result might just be the same.

8. Jean's Gypsy (Golddust Memory - Gifted Lex) ran into trouble in her last race, but before that she had been running hot with 5 quinielas in a row and back to back wins to get to grade A. If she can get back to breaking, she might have a shot to challenge early on.

Everyone knows that the current champ is the one to beat in this race. Eds Budby is just in another zone and has not only been winning races, he has been demolishing fields in the process. He won one of his races by 11 lengths and has been breaking better than anyone else at the racetrack over 660 yards. And to add insult to incident in this race, he gets the one box! This race is his to lose. Lady Avery gets a look her as the next best choice. I know she was not stellar in her first attempt at 660, but she did close well in all of those starts and managed a second place effort in one of her starts. She is older and wiser now, and that along should help in her effort tonight. Let's see if it really makes a difference or not. Gs Ashlynn is a very tough competitor when she can get wide and get out of the starting box in a hurry. Here she has both going for her. She is posted on the outside part of the racetrack, and she went box to wire in her last effort for the win. All she needs to do is come out running once again, and you will be seeing her around the leaders at the finish line. Kelsos Henchman loves the racetrack and this distance and has been getting better in each and every start at the Orange Park Kennel Club. He has not slowed down one bit, even though he has been climbing up thru the grading ranks. Now against the best at the racetrack, it's time to show that he belongs with the big boys and girls. Don't look for him early, but late in this race everyone better pay attention in the rearview mirror as he will be making a charge that should be good enough for the super. (1-4-7-5)

Sunday - 5/9/2010

Capping off the weekend in the 11th race on the card for Sunday Matinee.

1. Willing Effort (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) hot off a win and 2 in her last 3 races, Effort has been giving her best on the racetrack. Post might not be ideal here, but with another solid break, it could be race over.

2. Hanks Marsbar (Dodgem By Design - Hanks Cool Cat*) got roughed up in his last race, but from a great post position in this race, he hopes to make amends. With a little bit of a close, he can come from off the pace, but needs to be clear early if he wants into the mix.

3. Joplin's Zinger (Domingo Dodge - Barts Joplin) has really come into his own as of late. He has starting to break very well and that has been the difference maker. Just missed winning in A in his last effort, tonight might be his day.

4. Jean's Hiedi (Golddust Memory - Gifted Lex) has been a solid threat in all of her grade A races. She is a strong closer and will be making up ground once again in this race. If she gets loose early with the empty post, she might just upset at a price.

5. Jointheque (Flying Penske - Kansas Misty) likes to make up ground late and since returning to live races, he has been on fire with 3 in the money finishes in a row. Post is the only problem for him.

6. La's Reba (Get Over - Ruby Is The Best) so she is not quite her sister LUCY, but she is no slouch herself. She too can close and will be flying up late again in this effort for sure. Getting to the rail cleanly, that may be another issue.

7. Gs Shabam (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) runs tough when close to the early lead in any race, so the break will be critical to his success in this effort. He has the skills to win in A, like he did 3 starts back, but this is not the 1 box.

8. Cjc's Knock Out (Maryville Rumble* - Gable Claiborne) has shown some great early speed in this recent past and has turned that into wins at the finish line. Three came from similar posts, if she does see the lead, she might just do it again today.

This race is really open and several greyhounds have a chance to take home the victory, so with that being said, I'll go with the hot hand! Time to jump on the bandwagon and pick Willing Effort to win. I know she can be streaky at times, but she has been more consistent as of late and even though she might not want to be on the rail, she should get room early to run. All she needs to be is close early on in order to win this race late. Stalking throughout and getting up at the finish line for the win today! Cjc's Knock Out should be the pacesetter in this effort. She has all the early speed in this race and I don't expect her to sit in the box in back to back efforts. Once on the lead she can be caught, but as she has shown in the past, she can hold on all the way to the wire for the win as well. If she wants it bad enough today, this race might just be hers at the wire. Trying to run down either of the early runners will be Join theque and Jan's Hiedi. Both greyhounds have great late speed and both have to start from the tough middle post positions. Both will have to work early on to get room and get clear of the rest of the crowd if they want a chance to run everyone down late and steal away a win. (1-8-5-4)
