Eds Budby Heads up the Weekend

Friday - 10/22/2010

It's double up weekend at the Orange Park Kennel Club. We have a pair of 550 yard and 660 yard feature races this weekend with some of the top talents over both distances in competition.

Stakes winners and finalists are laced thru the events for this weekend, so get ready for a big bang for your buck here at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

First up is the 15th race for Friday evening at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

1. Hallo Wonder Boy (Dodgem By Design - Mohican Milla) is a good closer over 660 yards and gets his best box here in the 1. If he comes out like he did last time, he could be tough to beat.

2. Kanuka (Fuzzys Cannon - Well Chosen) is all about the early speed over the added distance. From a favorable post, she must come out running against this rough field of greyhounds.

3. Miss Minerva (Swanson - Trixies Wish) is back in grade A after a big time closing win in her last start. She can make up ground late, and is not stranger to A, but can she keep it going?

4. Lady Gator (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is as fast as she wants to be. Tough on top, she needs a big break again in order to factor in this race, without it, she is not the same greyhound.

5. Holly Noelle (Cricket Express - Solitary Camile) has been on fire as of late winning 3 of her last 4 efforts. She was a derby finalist, but the tough 5 box could give her fits. She too must break well.

6. Jean's Gypsy (Golddust Memory - Gifted Lex) broke well in her last race to get back to the top grade in this effort. In against a tough field, she needs to be around early, or this could be a long night.

7. La's Lucy (Get Over - Ruby Is The Best) is rested and ready to contend again over 660 yards. The early favorite for the Derby this year, Lucy is no slouch. It could be over if she gets the lead.

8. Eds Budby (Domingo Dodge - Cherokee Queen) is the best we have over the 660 yard course. He can do it from the front or from behind. Posted up outside, he will be the one to beat tonight.

No doubt who I and everyone else will be picking in this race, Eds Budby. Budby is a man against boys and girls when he wants to run and from the outside, he wants to run. He should clear close and take off alone for the win. Hallo Wonder Boy is coming off a huge race where he somehow made the lead early on. That is bad news for a field when a closer gets the front, and tonight he could have another shot at it. He loves the rail, and this is the one box, you do the math. Holly Noelle is at the top of her game right now and if she keeps breaking, she is going to keep contending in her races. She draws a tough post here, but she has excelled from it in the past. Always a factor when she is close, tonight she will be around again throughout. Let's not forget La's Lucy. Just because it has been a while since she won a 660 race, don't overlook her in this effort. She has won her share and more over this distance and was the pre-race favorite to win the Orange Park Derby. She is a monster on the front end and is as fast as anyone in this field. If she gets loose early, this race is O-V-E-R! (8-1-5-7)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday - 10/23/2010

The third feature races jumps back over to 660 yards in the 15th race for Saturday evening.

1. Kiowa Deli Dee (Flying Stanley - Kiowa About Deli) is an early speed machine over 660 yards and can even hold on an win on occasion too. From a good rail post, she might be slicing up an upset effort.

2. Kiowa Trent Tam (Trent Lee - Kay V Barbierie) has fallen into a FUNK but I don't think it will last much longer. She gets a better rail post and should get room behind Deli early on. Once she clears, race over.

3. On The Fly (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) might not be winning, but she has been a force in all of her starts. Tonight she's posted up & will show off her talents once again.

4. Hs Slade (Lonesome Cry - Flying Santan) hasn't run this far before, but he looks like he might just be able to stretch out over the distance. He is the wildcard tonight! Let's see what he can do.

5. Kiowa Vic (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) must not be overlooked in this effort. He can hang with the big names in this race, but has to get out the box to get it done. The post hurt, but not if he is in front.

6. Tipsy Brutus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) might be a bit over his head against this tough field, but from a good outside post it might be his time to shine. He must be close early to contend.

7. Starla Vintage (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) can close with the best of them when SHE wants to. You just never know when that is. If the light bulb is on, everyone better watch out tonight.

8. Wp's Lonesumdove (Lonesome Cry - Fuzzys Spider) needs to do just one thing, BREAK! Near the lead she is a force, without it, she has been suspect and finds trouble. Posted up, stick with the plan.

It's all about the inside in this effort. All four greyhounds have a good spot to start from, and couple have a point to prove in this effort. Kiowa Trent Tam has had back to back races out of the money after a run of 10 straight in the quiniela. Things are working for her tonight too. The speed to her inside gives her the rail early and she has enough left late to take the early speeders down before the wire. On the front or from just off the pace, it's rebound time in this effort tonight. Hs Slade is the other greyhound that has something to show off to his competitors, his skills over 660. I know this is his first start over the distance, but with a solid rush over 550 and something left coming home, he might just be a natural over the added distance. He will still need to get his feet wet, but if things go well, he might have found a new home. On The Fly just does one thing in her races, she gives everything that she has and that is just what you are going to get again in this effort. She is not winning like she was a month ago, but still she has been a factor in her races. She likes the rail and gets close here in the 3 box, look for her to stalks for the duration of this effort. Kiowa Deli Dee is the best early speed greyhound in this race and from the one box she should be unabated to the early lead. The only problem is that the rest of the field on the inside part of the racetrack is going to be too close too soon. Once she is threatened or passed, she doesn't run with the same attitude and usually weakens late. If she can steal 10 and get some help behind, she could upset on the lead, but more likely she pushing the pace till late and settles for a spot under in the superfecta at the wire. (2-4-3-1)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday - 10/23/2010

Race two comes out way on Saturday matinee in the 11th on the card.

1. Kiowa One Spot (Dodgem By Design - Flying Gazette) has really taken to the racetrack since arriving from Mardi Gras. She has been showing great early speed and should be a threat throughout.

2. Kcon Told You So (Maryville Rumble* - Cafe Queen) is a solid grade A competitor that is a factor in almost all of his races recently. He likes it on the rail, and get it. Let's see if he can keep it up.

3. Chaska Brenden (Lonesome Cry - Sendahl Katie) has not had too much success in grade A so far, but in both races he was outrun early. If he wants a chance here, he has to break better.

4. Smokin Scamp (Go Joe Jester - Smokin Dizzy) is a rail runner that uses his early speed to his advantage. Here he will need to be ready to fire from the box and get some room early.

5. Ru Tuff Enuf (Let's Winendine - Faith Keeper) is BACK! Finally he has started to come out fast and once in front, he is faster than the rest. Going for the Hat-Trick in this effort. It could be goal time again.

6. Kiowa Smedley (Dodgem By Design - Kiowa Heavenly) is not in a friendly post at all in this effort. He is all rail all the time, and will be heading there early on today. Look for a move by him in the stretch.

7. Leading Steps (Lonesome Cry - Tk Ashira) is the best early speed greyhound in this race and will be the one to catch on the front end. Is the mat enough to get him home? Is the post? Time we tell.

8. Farve's A Viking (Flying Stanley - Greys Bombayduck) is back in grade A hot off a big box to wire win. This is not the rail post though, so the outcome will be different. He can break quickly & will need to here.

All I can say is repeat time in this race. The four greyhound that I picked here ran first thru fourth in the last race that all of them competed in, so why change things. LOL! We all know that Leading Steps is going to fire from the starting box and take the lead, especially in the matinee, but it still won't be enough to take home the win. The will be saved for the resurging Ru Tuff Enuf. When this greyhound is on, he is one of the best at the racetrack, and right now the switch is flipped up. He has been breaking more consistently and in turn he has been winning races. Two in a row and three in his last 5 starts, including a 30.34 second romp. No one here is close to that time, so look for him to do whatever is needed to win again. Kiowa One Spot is a one NOTE greyhound, early speed. She can come out in a hurry, but she is short late in the race and will prove so once again in this effort. The helping hand for her is the post position. From the rail she should be a clear trip around the racetrack and that might even see her move up a little more at the finish line. Kcon Told You so has been in grade A in her last 6 races in a row and has finished in the money in 5 of those efforts. She is not going to dazzle you with some big time blowouts, but she is consistent in her efforts. Expect another solid race and another in the money finish today. (5-7-1-2)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday - 10/24/2010

Capping off the weekend we jump to the 11th race on the card for Sunday matinee.

1. Gs Tee Up (Afleet Alex - Gm's Peachykeen) is oh so happy to see the inside part of the racetrack again. He gets into so much trouble outside. With the 1 box, he might just surprise in this effort.

2. Lorna's Cannon (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) is a double threat in a tough post position. She likes it wide and starts out near the rail. Her late kick might just be her savior though.

3. Gm's Cashman (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) looked good in his return to 550, but found trouble last time out. Here from a good post, this NOS champ could get back in the big circle!

4. Harks Marsbar (Dodgem By Design - Hanks Cool Cat*) has been running well, but he is jumped up 2 grades to compete in this effort. Against some stiff competition, he is going to have his paws full.

5. Aristides (Rhythmless - Midnite Madness) has got no love at the windows, but he has won 3 of his last 5 efforts. His best attribute is his closing speed, so look for him to make a move in the stretch.

6. Bh's Simplylegit (Bh's Rackem Up - Simple Life) has big game potential, but has not shown it all that often in her last 6 efforts. Starting off in a tough post position, she needs to break on top to threaten.

7. Yourgood Imgreat (Diamond's For Me - Let's Run To Win) is running better than anyone else in this race and should be the one to beat in this effort. A Typical DQ Double Threat, Does it!

8. Hs Babe (Flying Stanley - Kiowa Brownsugar) has had some problems since returning to grade A, but today might be different. If she can break & get to the rail early, she might have an outside shot.

Yourgood Imgreat has to be the pick here just off of his recent performances. He has really been running well and has got it done on the early lead and from off the pace. He never gives up in any race that he is entered into and today will not be an exception to that rule. Look for him to give his all and prove best at the finish line. Gs Tee Up is a much deserved look in this race too. Forget about the couple of rough races, they all came from outside posts and today it's back to the rail with him. He loves to run from in here and normally breaks better too. Plus everyone knows that Lorna's Cannon is going wide at the break, so it's even extra room heading to the 1st turn. All he has to do is come out close, and he should be in a position to threaten in this race. Gm's Cashman is a stakes winner and no matter how hard you try, you can never count them out. Back from a trial over 660 yards, Cashman is getting acquainted again with the shorter course and how to win. Helping his cause today is the inside post and his experience. He too will need to break close if he wants a chance to win this race. Aristides gets no respect at the windows, but if he keeps winning races sooner or later someone is going to notice. The only drawback I see the post position. He has not run well from here in the past, but that can all be solved if he can come out close in this race. His best attribute is still his late speed and that is the reason that he should find the money again in this effort. (7-1-3-5)

Raiders Bart Trying to Find IT

Friday - 10/15/2010

Another weekend here at the Orange Park Kennel Club and another opportunity to watch some fantastic greyhound compete for wins in our feature races.

Whatever you like, we have go you covered with some 550 yards and 660 yard races. We have some up and comers, and some cagey veterans. We have some good early speed greyhounds, and come big time closers. We have some other great things too notice too like greyhounds returning to their old distances, greyhounds that are one win streaks, and greyhounds that are looking to find that magic once again.

So get ready for another exciting weekend of World Class Greyhound racing her at the Orange Park Kennel Club, and HAPPY READING!

Feature race one is the 15th and final race on the card for Friday evening over 660 yards.

1. Holly Noelle (Cricket Express - Solitary Camile) has won three races in a row and two from this post positions. Everything is going for her again, can she keep it up, and dominate? We'll see.

2. Hallo Wonder Boy (Dodgem By Design - Mohican Milla) is a huge closer that is back over the right distance again. He loves run from the rail and will make the most of this post tonight.

3. La's Lucy (Get Over - Ruby Is The Best) is back off an extended rest & back over 660 yards. She was the one to beat in the Orange Park Derby. On fresh legs, this field better be prepared.

4. Lady Gator (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is as fast as she wants to be, but has to be close early on in order to WANT to run. From the lead she is tough, but getting there might be a problem.

5. Hallo My Pear (Hallo West Acre - Kiowa Chil Cavel) is an early speed greyhound over 660 yards and he has not been breaking as of late. He has the skills, he just needs to use them if he wants a chance.

6. Kiowa Trent Tam (Trent Lee - Kay V Barbierie) finished out of the quiniela for the first time in 10 races in her last start. She won 7 of those efforts. Expect her to return to form tonight.

7. Kanuka (Fuzzys Cannon - Well Chosen) is strong early speed greyhound that needs to turn out a better effort in grade A this time out. Short in the stretch, she needs to steal a ton early on.

8. Wp's Lonesumdove (Lonesome Cry - Fuzzys Spider) is coming off a win in her last race, but the competition is harder here. Posted well, she must break her best in this effort.

In this race the queen gets back on track. Kiowa Trent Tam will not put up back to back clunkers no matter the post position. Granted she might not be in the early lead in this effort, but she is going to do whatever she needs to do it get it done tonight. Look for her to rebound in a big way with a big bold effort in this race. Second let's look at the posted up, streaking greyhound, Holly Noelle. She is extra tough on, or near, the lead and that is where she has been as of late. If she wants to keep the drive alive, she needs to come out running again. La's Lucy might just be the sleeper in this race. She can really run the route and has won numerous races over 660 yards. She is rested and ready to fire in this effort and once in front, they are not going to catch her. If she clears close, this is going to be some race to watch. Hallo Wonder Boy gets the last look as the best closer in the field. He loves the rail and starts out from the 2 box. He can run down almost anyone late and all he can to do is get room. If both the 1 and the 3 decide to break, he will have the whole rail to himself early on. Winning might be a stretch, but challenging late won't be. (6-1-3-2)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday - 10/16/2010

The third feature races will take place on Saturday evening in the last race on the card, the 15th.

1. Backatcha (Joe Hearns - Nikki Di) post will be the biggest problem for her in this race. She is wide and this is the 1 box. She needs to forget that last effort & find her break again tonight.

2. Hs Babe (Flying Stanley - Kiowa Brownsugar) is back in grade A hot off a win in her last effort. Early speed is the key to her success along with the rail posts. If she puts it together, watch out.

3. Kiowa Vincent (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) has been running tough as of late and looks to keep it going in this effort. An even runner is what she is, so a big break is needed in this one.

4. Kiowa Top Design (Dodgem By Design - Flying Acme) was the one to beat for a while, but he has fallen off of that pedestal. If he wants to get back, he must find a way to be closer early on.

5. Orion Lee (Trent Lee - Hurry Hannah) has speed to burn from the box and turned that into back to back wins. He is streaking now and is the one to beat here if he continues to break.

6. Tipsy Marcus W (Tipsy Character - Jetstar Streaker) is coming back to the top grade with a bold win in his last effort. A closer by nature, he can break on occasion too, he will need it all against these.

7. Gs Tee Up (Afleet Alex - Gm's Pechykeen) is as fast as anyone in this race, he just needs some running room to use it to his advantage. Look for him to make amends for that last trip around the oval.

8. Cjc's Buckshot (Pacific Mile* - Gable Ruth) has always been a good closer and is starting to run like he used to. He gets a good post away from the crowd and could parlay that into an upset in this effort.

No matter how you look at this race, Orion Lee has to be the one to catch and beat. This greyhound has been firing on all cylinders and even though he can be short in the stretch, he has held on late in back to back efforts to win. He has what to takes to get there and will survive on the late lead again for the hat trick. Kiowa Top Design might not be as sharp as he was a month or so ago, but he is still a top notch greyhound at the racetrack. He has a good break, a solid rush, and has never been caught from behind in any race. If he were to get the lead at some point in this effort, the race it over. Gs Tee Up is still just a puppy and is learning more and more in each and every start. What he already knows is that he is just as fast as anyone in this race and can easily win it if the chips fall in his favor. He just needs to learn how to stack the deck against some of the better fields. He can start by coming out closer and staying out of trouble. If he accomplishes both in this race, he could be the one to beat. Cjc's Buckshot might not be a threat to win, but you have to respect his closing ability. This greyhound never gives up and just keeps coming, and coming, and coming, and coming in each and every start. He will give everything he has throughout in this effort and from this outside post, he might just get room to do it. If he can clear close enough, he will factor at the finish line with the leaders. (5-4-7-8)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday - 10/16/2010

Race two of feature events on the weekend comes our way on Saturday matinee in the 11th.

1. Kiowa Kind Gel (Flying Penske - Kiowa Oneofakind) is all about putting a hurtin on fields early on and the one box will aide her in this effort. If she can steal enough, it could be upset time.

2. Mw Springer (Lewis And Wax - Mw's April Rain) has really found a groove as of late and has even been winning some races. From a favorable inside post, he will find a way to challenge.

3. Scottish Dreamer (Droppys Vieri - Crystal Chrysler) has been tearing up the racetrack, but this is grade A and the rules change. If she wants to run with the big boys and girls, she must break fast.

4. Kiowa Kay Share (Solitary Runner - Sol Happy) is clearly the fastest greyhound in this race, and all she needs is room to take home a win. She can do it on the lead or from off the pace. Field, you have been warned.

5. Hanks Dancequeen (Maryville Rumble* - Dance of Dreams) has had a couple of rough trips in a row, but don't let that fool you. She can go with the best of them. She just needs a break today.

6. Smokin Az Becket (Team Record* - Ptl Linda) might have missed her break last time, but she will get back to it today. This solid grade A racer, had back to back wins. If she finds it, she could get there again.

7. Deerfield Cheer (Flying Penske - Solitary Flyer) is a solid top grade runner that draws a good starting box in this effort. All he needs to do is come out close and he will be in the thick of things late.

8. Cayenne Carmagea (Dodgem By Design - Cayenne Jet) has all kinds of gears, but prefers the inside part of the racetrack. The post is the biggest hurdle, if she gets by that, she might have a chance.

Speed is the key to winning any race and the fastest of the fast in this one is Kiowa Kay Share. This greyhound can do it all. She can win from the front. She can win from off the pace. She can win with or without trouble in any race. She has all the tools she needs to get it done and with the extra room at the break with the empty box next to her, she does whatever she needs to do to win. Mw Springer gets a chance at the top spot here to will some spirited runs in his recent starts. He has been breaking better and has been a force throughout all of those efforts. From a good inside post he looks to keep it going, and he just might in this effort. Smokin Az Becket had won 2 starts in a row in grade A, but missed her break and ran into big time trouble in her last effort. Against a talented field, she needs to get back to what got her here, HER BREAK! If she comes out close, she will factor for the duration of this effort. Last but not least is Kiowa Kind Gel. I know her lines might not show it, but she is quick, quick, quick from the box when she wants to be. She has stolen a lead on several fields, and from the 1 box, she might just be able to pull the rabbit out of the hat. If she can steal enough early on in this matinee race, she too has an outside shot at the win. (4-2-6-1)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday - 10/17/2010

Capping off the weekend we head to the 7th race on the card for Sunday matinee.

1. Cheyenne Rascal (Kiowa Mon Manny - Payday Robin) is a whole different greyhound from the rail & proved that again in his last race. Can the magic last in grade A? Tune in to see.

2. Rays Finishline (My Judge - Ivyona Star) is finally starting to run like he did when he first got here. He is breaking better and has been showing some good late speed! The ship is righting, get on board!

3. La's Gigi (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) is a tough competitor when she uses her early speed to get close in races. Without it her effort is not the same, so a big break in needed today.

4. Really Gonnarock (Afleet Alex - Xtreme Hustler) is a solid grade A greyhound that gives his all in each and every start. From the front, or from off the pace, he will be a factor again in this effort.

5. Black Licorice (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) his effort all depends on whether he can get outside without any trouble. If he does, he will close an run tough, if he finds trouble, forgetaboutit.

6. Hallo Honey Bea (Lonesome Cry - Kay Casino Queen) has shown some late speed in the past, but will need to break if she wants to contend here. This could be a long day for her.

7. Sir Oliver (Hallo West Acre - Granpas Princess) is just a puppy, but he has shown some good skills so far at OP. He runs his best when close to the lead, so a big early effort will be required.

8. Raiders Bart (Dodgem By Design - Raiders Azeri) has been running OK, but is far better than his lines show. The 8 box might just get him loose on the lead today, and if he does, game over.

In this race it's all about class. Raiders Bart has that edge on the rest of the field. He has won more races than anyone else here and knows how to get things done from the lead and from off the pace. He has a solid rush, and when clear, he can dominate his competitors. From the outside he will have a clean trip to the turn and that is just what he needs to get his confidence back with a winning effort. Really Gonnarock has to be the biggest challenge to the leader. He has great closing speed and has won back to back efforts in grade A just 3 starts ago. The post might be a bit tricky for him here, but if he breaks at all it shouldn't matter much. Early on he might just be absent, but in the stretch everyone better be watching out for him. Rays Finishline looks to be getting back on track at the Orange Park Kennel Club. It's good to see that competitive fire resurface and for him to put it to good use. He has back to back big races under his belt and looks to make it three contentions in a row. If he keeps up the good work, he could be right in the thick of things in this race. La's Gigi gets a looks just because she can hit the lid on occasion. If she decides that she wants to go early today, she will be a force to be reckoned with on the front end. Everyone will be chasing her, and as he all know, speed holds better in the daytime starts. If she can steal enough early, and get some help behind her, it might just be time for a longshot to win. (8-4-2-3)

Veterans Ru Tuff Enuf and Eds Budby Showcase Weekend

Friday - 10/8/2010

Just like every other weekend of the year, the Orange Park Kennel Club will showcase some fantastic greyhound competing for the win in our feature races.

This weekend it's all about class. We have some very tough fields and some very talented greyhound all vying for the victory.

So if you are looking for some solid grade A races to watch and wager on, look no further, as the Orange Park Kennel Club has you covered.

Race one of the weekend is the 15th and final race on the card for Friday evening. F

1. Kiowa Top Design (Dodgem By Design - Flying Acme) was the hottest of the hot for a while at OP, and still tough as always from the rail. The one box could be the difference maker.

2. Smokin Az Becket (Team Record* - Ptl Linda) is coming off a grade A wins and draws another good inside post. He has to break fast again in order to keep up the good work.

3. Come On Takatrip (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) is rested and ready to go for this effort after 3 months off. Closing is his forte, so look for him to make a move in the stretch.

4. Wiki Letsgetloud (Always Faithful - Not Short Onluck) needs to put that last race behind her and get back to breaking. If she can find it early on, she may be around at the wire.

5. Kiowa Destina (Ww Apple Jax - Kay Kelly) is a big time late speed greyhound that can come from off the pace to challenge. Winning might be a stretch, but factor in the cash is not.

6. Bh's Simplylegit (Bh's Rackem Up - Simple Life) can run with or without the lead in any race, so she is a double threat, especially from the outside. Posted up tonight, she could be a threat.

7. Gs Angelo (Lewis And Wax - Gs Kayla) has some good early speed and runs tough when he is around at the first turn. Breaking fast will be the key to his success in this effort.

8. Fth Chinook Wind (Dodgem By Design - Cm Lil Bit) is as fast as he wants to be, but when is that? He has great closing speed and can break on occasion. If he gets loose early, watch out!

No doubt who is going to be the favorite in this effort. Kiowa Top Design is one of the best greyhounds at the racetrack and since exit the stakes, he has been one of the hottest too. He loves to break from the rail and gets it here in the 1 box. If he comes out close at all, he will win this race. Smokin Az Becket has really started to put it all together and might just be able to see the early lead in this race. If she can get her nose in front, she too could have a chance at back to back jacks, but if they are too close too soon it could be a tough row to hoe. Bh's Simplylegit gets the post nod as well here on the outside part of the racetrack. The break will be the most important part of this race for him if he wants to win. He has enough late speed to get it done in the stretch, but he must not let the leaders get too far away early on. If he all goes to play, he could wind back in the winner's circle for the second straight 6 box effort. Kiowa Destina is the best closer in the bunch and will be proving that once again in the stretch. She might not have the speed of the others early, but no one can match her at the finish. Her biggest hurdle in this race might be the post position. She will have to find room early from the middle if she hopes to make a late run to challenge. (1-2-6-5)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday - 10/9/2010

The third feature race will take place in the 15th race on the card for Saturday evening.

1. On The Fly (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) has been begging for an inside post and finally returns there tonight. She is tough when close and will be upset minded here.

2. Eds Budby (Domingo Dodge - Cherokee Queen) is the best 660 greyhound at the racetrack. Sure he lost last time, but you can't win them all. Posted and primed for the new streak tonight.

3. Starla Vintage (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) is a strong closer that has righted the ship in the last several races. She likes the inside & bingo she is there. Breaking would help her cause.

4. Kiowa Deli Dee (Flying Stanley - Kiowa About Deli) is back at 660 and hasn't been beat in 3 straight. She is the best breaker and will see the lead, but short late, she might not keep it.

5. Gm's Cashman (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) this NOS winner has taken well to 660 & needs to forget the last race. He can go the route, but he just needs to stay clear of trouble to contend.

6. Kiowa Vic (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) just needs to do one thing tonight, come out running. This greyhound is tough near the lead, but without it? Last time from the 6 hole, box to wire time.

7. Lk's Marsha (Fortified Power - Em's Amtrack) jumped from grade D to A with 3 straight wins, but the A competition has been too much for her so far. From a tough box, this could be another long night.

8. Changeling (Craigie Whistler - Magic Niki Nite) might be a longshot to win this race, but maybe not from this post. She has back to back wins from the 8 box, so don't overlook her tonight.

Everyone's favorite Eds Budby will be the one to beat in this effort. He has all the tools and gets a great rail post to boot. Even though he can run off with the early lead, against this field, he could even come from off the pace and get it done. All he has to do is be close early on, and this race will be over in the stretch. Breaking on top and leading for the majority of this race should be Kiowa Deli Dee. This greyhound is as fast as she wants to be on the lead, but once she gets passed, it's a whole different ballgame. She fades back late and that is just what is going to happen to her here. The streak ends as the champ gets back up at the wire to take her down. On The Fly has been waiting for another rail chance and gets it here in this race. Tonight she will clear easily from this post and that could be a difference maker for her. She has loads of talent and runs her best near the front end of any race. That is where she is going to be tonight, expect a big time trip. Gm's Cashman might be overlooked with the others left to contend in this effort, but I think you need to pay attention to him. He is just learning how to go over the new route and gets a greyhound to chase early on right next to him at the start. He can break over 550, and it would be nice to see him get out closer over 660 yards. If he does decide to run tonight, he could give the big names all they can handle in this effort. Saturday - 10/9/2010

The second of four features races will run in the 11th on the card for Saturday matinee.

1. Really Gonnarock (Afleet Alex - Xtreme Hustler) has posted up back to back wins at OP, but now will have to try for the 3 peat from the rail. With all his late speed, he just needs to be around early.

2. Gs Tee Up (Afleet Alex - Gm's Peachykeen) is another talented puppy that gets a chance to win again in grade A. He should like it in here, but must break better today if he wants a shot to win.

3. Wp's Commodore (Fuzzys Cannon - M's Countess Amy) is a threat every time he steps on the racetrack. With a good break, great raw speed, and some closing power, he is a triple threat.

4. Kiowa Vanessa (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) hasn't been winning a ton of races, but she always finds a way to sneak into the money at the wire. Being a threat throughout, she could surprise.

5. Ru Tuff Enuf (Let's Winendine - Faith Keeper) just when you think the old man has lost it, he shows that he hasn't. Tuff is back and when he is on, he is clearly the best of the bunch. Watch out!

6. La's Lucy (Get Over - Ruby Is The Best) can run 550, but is a much better 600 yard greyhound. Here she is a closer and will be making up ground in the stretch. Too little too late though.

7. Kiowa Ellie (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Kiowa Mary Tammi) is at her best when she comes out running. She is not as consistent as may would like, but the outside post might help. Here she must break.

8. Sunsands Bomber (Extruding Dream - Sunsands Petsie) has shown loads of early speed and from the outside, she could get loose early on. She is short late though, so winning might be tough.

It's the veterans vs. the Afleet Alex pups in this race. Ru Tuff Enuf is as Tuff as anyone on the racetrack when he can get out of the starting box and that is what he is going to do today. He will get room early with the empty box next to him and that will allow him to see the lead. Once in front, he is tough to take down before the wire. IE, see two races back, win by 7 1/2 in 30.34 seconds. Out and gone early on today. Next the two race in a row winner, Really Gonnarock. This greyhound has gotten better with each and every start and the scary thing is that his brother is even better. He miss the stakes final, but has rebounded nicely and has been showing off against the best at the racetrack. From this post he should get a clean run to the turn and that could be bad news for the rest of the field if he is close early on. With his late kick, he will challenge in the stretch again today. Wp's Commodore is as fast as anyone in this race and has won his share, 3 in his last 6 efforts, of grade A races. He loved this inside, near rail, post position and as long as he is close early, he will be a threat throughout. All he has to do is keep on keeping on in this effort. Gs Tee Up is the other Alex pup that will be contending for the win in this race. He has great skills of his own, and from a better post, I expect the effort to rise as well. He need to just one thing to get a chance to win this race, BREAK. He has not been coming out like he did in the past and it is why he has not crossed in front in a while. If he gets the lead, they might just be hard pressed to get to him in time. (5-1-3-2)

Sunday - 10/10/2010

Last but not least is the 11th race on the card for Sunday matinee at the Orange Park.

1. Kiowa Smedley (Dodge By Design - Kiowa Heavenly) loves the rail and is a whole different greyhound from the inside posts. He has a good shot to get back winning today.

2. Youtgood Imgreat (Diamond's For Me - Let's Run To Win) is a monster near the lead and the post should get him there in this race. Even though he was outgunned late last time, today might be different.

3. Miss Romy (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) has drawn some good post and has found her form as of late. She is as fast as she wants to be, but is today one of the those days, or not?

4. Uss West Coast (Lonesome Cry - Uss Mysterious) is one of the hardest trying greyhounds at OP. He would like to win more, but he has to break better to do that. Either way, a big threat today!

5. Tam Ellie Eye (Trent Lee - Primco Gator Eye) has shown some late speed recently, but up in pay grade today, she might have be trouble. She needs some help from the 5 box to compete.

6. Kiowa One Spot (Dodgem By Design - Flying Gazette) might have the best early speed in this field, but holding on to win has been a problem. Problem not solved against these, but she might still factor.

7. Willing Effort (Dodgem By Design - Ww Ellen's Time) her names said it all. Will she be WILLING to give all of her EFFORT in this race? If she does, she could win, but if not, well you know the rest.

8. Cheyenne Zapper (Dodgem By Design - Goodbye Nancy) is moving up to compete against the big boys and gets a tough post to start from in this effort. This race could be extra long and tough.

One thing for sure, this race is going to be exciting to watch. We have quite the talent in this race and they are going to be doing their best to take home the win. Yourgood Imgreat gets the nod here for me as he is just s step quicker early on than most of this field and will have enough to get home a winner in this race. This will not be a romp and he will be pushed throughout, but sometimes you have to step up and that is just what will happen here. Kiowa Smedley will give a winning effort once again from a superb post position. He loves it on the rail and will make the most of this post. He has not seen the win in 2 races now and it might be time to get back there. Last time out from this post he scored. Uss West Coast is going to give his all for the duration of this race. He always does and that byline is not going to change anytime soon. I know he would rather be winning races than just running in the money, but he has to break better to get that done. If he finds his long lost break at the start of this race, he will be upset minded today. Kiowa One Spot might just be the one for all of the big dogs to catch in this race. She has the best early speed and has seen the front in 3 of her last 6 efforts. She has been short late though in 5 of her last 6 races, but she did hold on to win one, and that came from a similar post positions. Her only hope in this race is to hit the lid, steal a long lead, and get some help behind her, otherwise the chasers will get to her before the finish line. (2-1-4-6)

The Master of his DOMAIN

Friday - 10/2/2010

It's spot play weekend at the Orange Park Kennel Club in each and every one of our featured races.

Just pick one, any one, and you will see that there is a distinct advantage for a greyhound in each race that should allow them to have an edge throughout the race and at the finish line.

Granted a couple could win on skill alone, but put them where they want to be and get a little help around them and you better really watch out.

So without further ado, it's time to get this party started at the Orange Park Kennel Club.

Race one come on the Friday evening card, as we save the best for last, let's look at race 15.

1. Kiowa Top Design (Dodgem By Design - Flying Acme) saw his win streak stopped in his last effort, but should rebound here with a fantastic post position. All he has to do is be close early, and it's over.

2. Sayitwasseth (Deerfield Site* - Mystic Opal) is a strong closer over the shorter distance, but he needs to get out closer early if he wants a chance to win. The post is a plus, let's see if he uses it to his advantage.

3. Orion Lee (Trent Lee - Hurry Hannah) is the best breaker in the bunch , but he has not show it in his last couple of starts. He's posted up and if he finds it in this effort, he might just wire this field.

4. Big Drama (Get Over - Rooftop Flojo) is a big time closer that can come from way off the pace to challenge. She loves the rail and will need to get there to be competitive. Without trouble, she challenges.

5. Gs Tee Up (Afleet Alex - Gm's Peachykeen) is still just a puppy, but has proven already that he can hang with the grade A's. The tough 5 box awaits in this effort. Even though he can close, he has to break.

6. Wp's Commodore (Fuzzys Cannon - M's Countess Amy) is a solid grade A threat from the lead or from off the pace. He can run from anywhere, but likes the rail best. If he can clear, he could be a winner.

7. Kiowa Mon Dolly (Kiowa Mon Manny - Kiowa Kays Dream) is all about the early speed and finally gets to compete against the big boys and girls again. The post is in her favor, she just needs to hit the lid tonight.

8. Kiowa Class Run (Flying Penske - Kiowa Classylady) is up 3 grades in this race tonight and might find the competition hard to handle. She is a long way from the rail too. If she doesn't break well, it could be a long evening.

This is race could be rather tough if everyone that has talent decides to show up and do what they do best, so you have to go with who gets the most help. In this race that greyhound is Kiowa Top Design. Top Design gets the one box and will loads of room to rush the turn in as the 2 is slow from the starting box. Helping out too could be that red hot 5 race win streak showing in his lines. He has been on fire and even without the front end he can come from just off the pace and steal away a victory. All in all, he will be too close too soon not to win this effort. So who will get the lead? I think Orion Lee. This greyhound has not fired like he can in his last couple of efforts, but tonight he gets back to the inside, and he is faster from the box than either of his competitors to his left. Like most early speed greyhounds though, he can be caught from behind in the stretch. His hope is to come out running, steal enough of a lead early so that he can have an opportunity to hold on for the win. Gs Tee Up might be short on starts, but he is long on talent. This greyhound has all the gears that he wants and can keep on coming at the end of the races. What is even more noticeable is that he has run the fastest of any greyhound in this field. Sure he might still be figuring it out, sure he might be in the 5 box, sure he might not have things the other do, but sometimes you just can't measure or predict what HEART can do for you. Just ask his dad! Big Drama is the other greyhound that might get overlooked that shouldn't in this race. She has loads of late speed over 550 and loves to race from the inside part of the racetrack. The 4 box is close enough to contend, but she is going to have to not be last early if she wants to factor in this race. The most crucial part of this effort will be the start. (1-3-5-4)

Saturday - 10/2/2010

The best of the best match up in the 15th and final race on the card for Saturday Evening.

1. Kiowa Vic (Flying Hydrogen - Greg Kiowa Girl) likes the rail and can be tough on the front end when he decides to come out running. He is in tough here, but has a great post. We'll see about the effort.

2. Eds Budby (Domingo Dodge - Cherokee Queen) is the best of the best over 660 yards currently has a 4 race win streak going! This OP Derby winner likes the rail, and he gets it. Frankly, it's almost unfair.

3. Kiowa Trent Tam (Trent Lee - Kay V Barbierie) would have 6 wins in a row if Eds Budby was not around. She has finished 2nd to him in both match-ups. Posted up well, she has revenge on her mind.

4. Starla Vintage (Fuzzys Cannon - Instant Vintage) is from the long line of DQ Williams closers and recently she has started to do them proud again. Even though she can close, she need to break tonight.

5. Jjb Dibaba (Lonesome Cry - Joe's My Man) jumped up to grade A with back to back to back wins. Now 3 grades tougher, the fields are getting to her. No break here in the 5 box. This rail runner needs one.

6. Wp's Lonesumdove (Lonesome Cry - Fuzzys Spider) can be tough on the front end, but you never know when that is going to be. Without the lead, she has been suspect in the past. She has to fire to the lead if she wants to contend.

7. Changeling (Craigie Whistler - Magic Niki Nite) has taken well to the added distance, but now gets to meet up with the big dogs. We'll see if she can keep up the torrid pace from another good post position.

8. Gm's Cashman (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) the NOS winner did well in his first trip over 660. From the same post tonight, he gets another chance to shine. If he gets out of the box better, he could be a sleeper.

Ok the one, two punch is back in this race. Talk about playing a solid Perfecta, well here it is. Eds Budby over Kiowa Trent Tam. These two greyhounds have separated themselves from the rest of the 660 yard crowd, and so far Eds Budby has been superior to Trent Tam in their recent match-ups. Eds Budby is the best greyhound running at the racetrack right now and should continue on with his fifth win in a row. This Orange Park Derby winner, and 2nd place finisher in the recent James J Patton Silver Cup, is a dual threat that can win from the lead or from off the pace. Clearly the choice, Budby gets it done again. Trent Tam is no slouch herself, she just has not been able to outrun Budby in their match-ups. Without those races, she would have won six races in row, but has to settle for eight straight in the quiniela. She too is posted up well in this effort and will give her all, too bad it will be for next best. Gm's Cashman is a proven winner that gets to take on new challenges over the added distance and so far he has looked good. Breaking from the same post, I expect him to give another strong effort. Never count out DQ over 660 yards and that is why Starla Vintage gets another look in this effort. She has got the train back on the tracks over her last couple of efforts and has shown off that good closing speed in the stretch. She might want to be a bit more inside tonight, but will make due from the 4 box. Breaking better would go a long way for her contend in this effort. (2-3-8-4)

Saturday - 10/2/2010

Race two comes our way in the 11th race on the card for Saturday Matinee.

1. Miss Romy (Fuzzys Cannon - Miss Kissable) seems to have righted the ship all of a sudden with back to back winning efforts. She could always close, but is getting out quicker from the box. From her best box today, Watch out!

2. Wp's Clinton (Fuzzys Cannon - M's Countess Amy) has a lot going for him as well in this race. He is posted up, he has been hot, and he has enough late speed to overcome trouble. If he wants to go, he could upset.

3. Kiowa Kay Wilber (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Kiowa Kay Kattie) is a solid grade A competitor that hangs around a lot in the money in his efforts. What gets him there is his early speed. A good break will be needed again.

4. Kiowa Mc Gee (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Kiowa Wild Color) is back in grade A, hot off a win in his last effort. Here the 4 box is not the rail and that could be bad news for this puppy. He has the skills to win, but will he apply them.

5. Aristides (Rhythmless - Midnite Maddness) was running well in grade B, but that has not transferred well to grade A. No easing up today with the 5 box. If he doesn't break, he could be in a tough place.

6. Hallo Honey Bea (Lonesome Cry - Kay Casino Queen) has had a couple of rough starts in a row, but has experience against the A's and has had success in the past. She just needs to wake up & show that she has to offer.

7. Uss West Coast (Lonesome Cry - Uss Mysterious) has not broke in 4 races, but to his credit, he has not missed the money. He is a steady runner that can contend in any effort. To win, he has to be out first.

8. Gs Rae (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) is a strong closer that can hit the lid on occasion. He has won twice in his last 4 starts, but the 8 box is not the 2 box. Getting to the rail will be his biggest hurdle here.

Once again post plays a huge role in who is going to win this effort. Miss Romy is all rail all the time and seems to be a whole different greyhound when she starts out in the red dress. She has a solid rush to the turn and can come home with the best of them at the racetrack. Right now she has found it again, and that has been the difference in her back to back winning efforts. Uss West Coast might not be winning like he has in the past, but he still has been a force in each and every start that he has competed in. He always seems to be around the lead and that has really paid off well for him at the finish line. He would rather be on the rail, but if he breaks it really won't matter that much. He clearly could win this race if he can rush best from the box. Wp's Clinton has turned into a closer as of late, but even with his break leaving him, he still has been factoring at the finish line. Working for him in this effort is the post position. He loves the rail and gets way close enough here with the 2 box. He should clear behind Miss Romy and have all kinds of room on the rail to rush and run. If he can find an inkling of his early speed, he could be a long shot winning today. Gs Rae is the other closer in the field and even though he is not in the best starting box, he still has a chance to steal away the win in this effort. He has 2 wins in 4 starts, and both of those were very impressive victories. The only thing he needs to do today is remember that he can't let the field get too big of a lead on him early on, or his hopes at a win will be dashed. (1-7-2-8)

Sunday - 10/3/2010

Capping off the weekend, we head to the 7th race on the card for Sunday Matinee.

1. Gs Shabam (Dodgem By Design - Gs Gertie) gets the double bonus with the rail and a wide breaking and running greyhound in the 2 box. All he has to do is come out close and he should have a good shot to win.

2. Black Licorice (Heart Rumble* - Spicy Candy) is not in the right post to start this race. Wide is where it's at for him, and he will do whatever to get there. If he doesn't break, this could be a troubled trip.

3. Kiowa Fly Remi (Flying Stanley - Flying Rolling) is rested up and ready to come back and challenge in the grade A ranks. Showing some early speed recently, he needs to hit it today to contend.

4. AHK Lady Deanna (Coldwater Keelin - C Y Martinique) runs her best from the front end and without the lead she is not the same greyhound. You will know in the first couple of steps if it is her day or not.

5. Kcon Told You So (Maryville Rumble* - Cafe Queen) has stepped up her game as of late and has turned into a solid grade A threat. She relies on her early speed, so from a tough post, she has to show up early on.

6. Kiowa Destina (Ww Apple Jax - Kay Kelly) has some good late speed and seems to like the outside part of the racetrack. Although she gets not love at the windows, don't discount her here, she could be a sleeper pick.

7. Shorty's Nana (Be Discrete - La's Felisha) is the best early speed greyhound in this field. She has not been beaten to the turn in 4 straight. She is short at the end of the race, and even with the lead, holding on will be hard but not impossible.

8. Hs Babe (Flying Stanley - Kiowa Brownsugar) has made it to grade A, now she just needs to prove that she belongs there. She has been successful from the outside before, she just needs to get out fast in order to contend. Can she?

Here I like the spot play of Gs Shabam. Talk about getting everything you wanted for Christmas, Gs Shabam's wish list just came in. He loves the rail and gets to start from the railest of post positions, and not only that, he also gets the widest running greyhound breaking next to him in the 2 box. He is going to have his personal blocker thru the early stages of this field and that will allow him to be close early and find a way late to take home his 4th win in 6 starts. Kcon Told You So and Shorty's Nana both have better early speed than Shabam does and these are the two greyhounds that he is going to have to take down before the finish line. I see this duo battling it out on the front end for the majority of this effort, with the slight edge early to Shorty's Nana and the slight edge late to Kcon Told You So. Either way you like them, this pair will be a threat throughout in this effort. Kiowa Destina is the best closer in the bunch, and if you read here often, you know I love the closers to round out the superfecta. They can overcome any trouble and if they break that normally vie for the win in the race. The outside post will help her in this effort and if she keeps to form, she should be right there in the money at the finish line.
